Anyone have any views on this? Granted, i havent completed the game yet, but so far completing the first 3 levels has been a walk in the park. And there are only four more to go? Also, ive heared of ppl beating it allready, and it hasnt been out that long, so im a bit puzzled. Usually these games took me atleast about a week to complete.
Anyways, im glad its finally in stores! Fantastic game, 360 version looks amazing, plays alot better than previous versions, just hope i wont complete it in two days, now that ive been waiting for this game since forever!

It all comes down to how fast and much you play the game and how much you explore. if your not looking around and finding hidden secrets and are just zooming throught it, then you may get done fast. take your time, and explore. after all thats what Tomb Raider is all about :D

I explored a lot, looked around and took about 200 screenshots while playing, found 97% of the secrets......finished it in about 12 hours. The firts 4 TRs took me at least a month each with the same approach.
It IS too short.

12 hours sounds about right, i completed, all of the Trs, in about that (a little shorter here and there,)aside from TR3 which took, a little longer. then went back and replayed with all secrets etc, whcih took a little longer :)

I agree, the first TR's took me a month or a little more inbetween breaks. If it takes around 12hrs to beat and I play 3hrs everday, id be done in four days, thats not cool :(

So its not just me then... What a shame... Well the game is fantastic, no questions about that. To bad it ends quickly. Still, it was money well spendt imo. The 360 hasnt exactly been flooded with great games and amongst the titles out right now, this sure as hell is one of the very best ones!

If you were able to complete TR1 and TR4 in about 12 hours, then you will complete TRL in about 40 minutes :p ;)

Actually they are longer. And even if it was longer than these 2 of the worst TRs, it still is way too short, they should ask half the price. TRL is not better than the first 4 TRs.
It looks amazing, that's true, but you can't sell a game just because of that.

TR- Chronicles was nothing but a short expansion pack for Tomb Raider 4 - Last Revelation (TR4 Gold, if you will) and TR-AOD was an alpha stage, COMPLETLEY unfinished game...and still TRL is not really longer. Even if it was, that's not saying much at all.

you see, this is what i was worried about, short game, different controls, no big wide open levels.
Do i buy this game ?
i am a a die hard fan of TR 1 to 4, i am probably going to be disappointed with this latest one.
please tell me there is no "bullet time" or hidden special moves.

the only thing i dont like is the fact that you will fall off a cliff anytime.. the walk button is gone.. if you walk or sneak to a ledge, you will fall off (bollocks!).. you can crouch and then you will fall off too bu lara will reach the edge while she falls. the controls are a bit POP a like, which is good except for the walk part
anyway ....

You can walk if you use a gamepad
After going through the game twice now I think the 'Tomb Raider' level I had it on should be changed to the 'easy setting', the tips from Zip and Co along with the help text should be removed for the harder settings, you have the binoculars to show you the way so why have the need to be told, it would have been much more challenging after all we are supposed to be tomb raiders

Yep, the game is great, very nice ,,, superb graphics, the real nature and tombs are back in  but is too short :P .... I haven't finished it yet ,,, I'm in Ghana, at the hardest dificulty and trying to explore as much as I can :D ,,, I finished the mansion exploring and I am still wodering witch is bigger ,,, the mansion or Bolivia  ,,, These levels that are in the Jungle or "nature" :p should be waaaaay bigger ... anyway ,,, I am trying to play it very slow 'cause after this we'll probably wait another year for the next Tomb Raider :(

yeah i know but youll still fall off
in previous tombs, if you walked, you couldnt fall off which was great for exploring and see whats beneath you..
now you have to go down on your knees and gently move to the edge and then look around

This shows how opinions differ, because I would give almost all the stuff you mentioned a big fat thumbs down.
Action is arcade like Schwarzenegger movie, too much shooting.
Mystery is there in just a few levels and they are very short....I am talking minutes here.
Music is annoying, it is in a loop, like a broken record and does not end, so I shut it off completely.
The graphics look amazing, the 1 thing they got right.
Nepal, Ghana and parts of Peru are very cool locations, typical TR stuff, but over before you know it.
The mansion is also a disappointment because you can't go outside, just a small yard with a fountain, that's it. You are stuck in just a few large rooms and long halls.......I used the 100% finished gamesave file of the game posted on another forum, to check out what would be unlocked and no more doors were opened, just some clothes, videos and ammo/life cheats).
BTW, I deleted that gamesave fle, so I am back at where I was, 97%.

There are hints on all levels really but on the hard setting there should be none at all and you should just rely on the bioculars, the only difference i can see is that it takes more shots to kill an enemy and the secrets are harder to find

ive played the game for about 60 minutes and im at 1% (60 tomb minutes, i died a few times, so make that 1 hour and a half)
1 hour x 100 = 100 hours of joy!
looks good
ps, after one hour of AOD, I was running through the pipes in Paris ;)

I found it was a bit short, First go took about eight or so hours (Although a lot of that went into finding good boss strats) and the second attempt took under two hours and a half. :(
Great game nonetheless, I found it much better than AOD.
I was only dissapointed that the game was a fairly short and there wasn't more to the croft manor. Oh how I loved the ATV in TR3's course! :D

There is no way ure gonna spend 100 TR hrs. with this game. Im playing the medium difficulty and after 8 hrs and 50 minutes, i am now in England. From what ive gathered, Nepal is the next and last level in this game for me so i expect to have this beaten in no more than 11 - 12 hours tops, wich makes me seen slow compared to alot of the guys on this forum.
Focking fantastic game though. I hope CD and Eidos gets straight to work on the next installment.

yes, its good that its better than AOD (which wouldn't be too hard) but if it's that short then it's going to be nowhere near as good as TR1-4 were. TRs 1+4 were my favourites purely because of how long and mindboggingly infuriatingly difficult they were (puzzle-wise) and the odd bit of animal/monster bashing. but they've strayed from the path again (didn't mean to sound preist-like :D) and they've concentrated too much on graphics (and making her boobs wobble AGAIN) and havn't made it long enough or the puzzles hard enough. they've put in too many human baddies and the constant watchful eye of zip is back, so you no longer feel alone like in the earlier ones, especially TR1, albeit in tombs. the only thing i think will be moderately difficult, but still not as difficult as the first few, is getting all the secrets
however, apart from those points in my mini-rant, i think it will still be an amazing game, i'll just have to play it several times :D

Is it short? Maybe from what all I have read - but look at the bright side they are rebuilding the franchise, they have your attention now - and they have the code built - not like they can't fire out an add-on or seq really fast - who would not buy it?
She's back, she looks good and has cool new moves.. wait till about August and I bet you see a quick 4 level addon..then (consults the crystal ball) yeah I see a level editor ... its foggy but its got better odds of showing up than hitting the lottory

i'm not saying its bad, just that its very short in comparison with the other good TRs. and of course i would buy an add-on, if they released 100 i'd dip into my savings and buy all of them ;)

How long is this game compared to "Emperor's Tomb"? I remember when that came out, people were complaining that it was so short and they were completing it in a weekend, but it took me a few weeks (I usually don't play games everyday, and on the days I do play them, I don't usually spend more than a couple of hours with them.) So if it's like "Emperor's Tomb," then I have no problem with its length. But if it's like "Timeline," then that really sucks.

I hardly ever play games but love TR and it took me over 50hrs almost non stop to finish (not complete) the game on hard. I had to have food and a few naps to be refreshed to kill some of the bosses

I don't want to spoil the fun for you, but I got the Emperor's Tomb (I like it a lot btw :)) and spent almost two weeks on that as well, but it's MUCH longer than Legend.
The % value shown in Legend is bogus, because I played 1 hour and it was on 2%, then I played another one and a half hours and I was at 17%!!! On maximum difficulty.
I'm guessing if I continue like that, the game will be finished in no more than 10 hours (approximately 3 to 4 days for me) IF I spend a lot of time in the mansion.
And there are even some levels where you walk back through the same rooms again...the game is small. And if I say small, I mean really small!
The game is very linear, meaning there is almost anything to 'explore'. You can at best move two rooms from the main path to find a secret and then you're back on the linear way that leads you through a level.
Even games like Blood Rayne 2 or Silent Hill have more exploration.
That all sounds very bad now, but what still made the game worth buying is that the little time you will spend is a lot of fun :) Legend is literally 'short but sweet'. And I'd rather have loads of fun for a few hours than an endless boring journey.
But be honest, wouldn't you get the game just for the fact it's Tomb Raider anyways? I know I would.

I played in the most difficult setting, with voices off (meaning Zip, Allister and Lara), never used the binocular and finished it in 12 hours with 97% of everything found....I also explored (not much to explore) and took more than 200 screenshots while playing.
I can't believe it took you 50 hours with all the help of Zip and glowing stuff, but maybe you are not a regular gamer. You know if you downloaded the game (illegally), you would have had only 5 days to play it because that's when the game was available for download.....and that means 10 hours a day.
But you finished it 2 days ago according to a former post....so you played 50 hours in 3 days, 16-17 hours a day?

Well, probably eventually, but I wouldn't pay full price if it's really short.
After pretty much hating TR2, I was very reluctant to get TR3, for example, so I waited until it became a bargain title (fortunately it turned out better than TR2!!) And I bought AOD for $5 after hearing how bad it was. So I might do the same with Legend. For $5, I don't mind if the game is too short. For $50, I'd be seriously pissed off.

This should be bought as a bargain... Oh dear Lord, it IS wayyyy toooooooo short!!!!
enter a level, do some jumps, defeat some enemies and level is done :(
These are no levels, dear chrystal dynamics!!
I mean ... what in the name of...??
its too easy, its too short and when there finally is some action... lara does it all, you just have to push UP or DOWN :(
This is not a way to make a game!!!!!!! this is not a game... its a damn movie
i always liked it when you enter some place.. you didnt know where to start. I mean now its SOOO obvious... Always only one way to go.... no 6 different corridors anymore... nothing... just a lame POP rip off with Tomb raider surroundings and Lara instead of the prince
again, oh dear Lord
This game is BOLLOCKS!!!
the only positive that I have to say is that it looks very good.. other then that game SUCKS!!! And yes I am a TR fan. Ive played and finished all previous Tombs at least once. AOD is way better than this. This is no game. Its just some chick running through fantastic surroundings.
