Oxmox studio is about to release (or already did) that new Legend life-size statue
translation from French:
Here are exclusive first images of the new statue of Lara Croft, inspired by the Tomb Raider Legend game which will be out on PS2, Xbox, PC, PSP and Xbox 360 in a few weeks. For those of you who pay attention to such details as Lara's equipment, note the presence of the grappling hook, the binoculars, the torches, the grenades and the new communication system.
Oxmox's studio official website doesn't have any news about it yet

Guys, check studiooxmox.com 's FAQ for how to buy questions... You email them generally, when you want to buy something from them.

Ok, Studio Oxmox (Australia) is the designer of this and all the other Muckle statues.
The German company Muckle (www.mucklefiguren.de (http://www.mucklefiguren.de)) is the producer/manufacturer of the statues.
Eidos Germany orders those figures and tells them who to sell to. Game store chains usually. When they are new they are sold for around 1000 Euro.

muckle/Oxmox definately do the best statues of Lara and other characters too.....the only problem is with the lara statues people rip off the design and make those hideous copies....there is an AOD on ebay at the mo and it looks like Lara has a gumsheild in...it's naff and not nice at all....

the only problem is with the lara statues people rip off the design and make those hideous copies....
It does exist, the AOD statue, but some people make money by making copies of the originals. If you look closely you'll notice a lot of (hideous) things you don't see in the originals (she seems to even be crosseyed in the one Linny posted above!)

Well, I worded that wrong but... :p So... how can I tell the difference between a fake and real one? (Any big pics of an original and then fake, really?) Cos I don't want to be conned into buying a fake one :(
ladylinnycroft
02-26-2006, 01:10 PM
the fake has a different mouth...the pucker one has a more refined look....also look at the belt buckle
this is the bad copy
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v56/cromerchablis/1a.jpg
this is the original....notice the difference...this one is much softer

Yes, there are a lot of fake statues of the AOD and the TR4 Lara at eBay. So be carefull.
The best way to tell if it is a fake figure is to check if the ponytail is detachable. On the fake ones it is not detachable.

BTW, did you notice that the ponytail is photoshopped? I guess they needed pictures but the ponytail wasn't done/perfect yet.
Compare the position of the two ponytails. It does not match.

I noticed. :D But they have the hair effect so nice on the rest of the head, that I am sure they will do something lovely with the ponytail itself. They might even have a REAL toggle option!

How can you tell her hair is Photo-shopped? Maybe the doll comes with synthetic hair?
GoranAgar
03-01-2006, 08:17 AM
First of all, you can see it. I know how they did it, I know what tools they used. It is nicely done, but not perfect. ;) (I am of course not complaining here, just stating). The very edge at the lower left area of the ponytail where the hair stopps and the backpack begins does not fit.
The position of the hair does not match up on both of those pictures. It does not fall right. It shouldn`t be where it is on the first picture.
Also, the hair on the top of the head is clearly the same material as the rest of the figure (just like all the other Laras they made). And it is very unlikely that they switch from one material to another for the ponytail. And if they tried that, it is impossible to get it to look as perfect as it appears in the picture.
:)

I don't know the exchange rate on Euro vs US Dollar, but last week, shortly after missing out on an eBay auction for the Lara Croft AOD statue, I was offered to buy it directly (from Special Movie Arts in Sweden) for 675 USD + 180 USD Shipping. I may still take them up on it (if it's a good deal) as I would love to have Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) and Master Chief (Halo) standing in my store.

I'm not that confident on eBay for international purchases, in fact, the only things I've bought from outside Brazil were the French figures that I buy every three months, and that's because the estore that I buy from was widely recommended by other aficcionados on the web. :) I'll look into this further later on when I have a fairly decent ammount of money to invest.
What would be a fair price for a lifesize Lara? You have them all, so you do have a much better idea than I ever would. ;) Thanks.

Oxmox is a company based in Australia. They design the figures. Manufacturer is the German company Muckle. So if your friend bought one, it probably was from Muckle. Although they do have an exclusive contract with Eidos. Which means that only Eidos should be able to sell the figures. And they usually sell only to resellers. The more units of Tomb Raider Legend that reseller orders, the cheaper his lifesize statue gets. €850 sounds about right.

Hmm, that sounds it could work for me. I mean buying straight from Eidos, though I'm still not sure about worldwide postage and stuff. I made some rough estimatives, and with all conversions and stuff and assuming I could save up for that long (it's worth, I know ;)) I could get one next year.
But here comes another question - does Eidos sell them to fans, like you and me? I thought these were only available for game shops and the likes.

Contact Eidos Germany and ask. :) Although I am not sure they will last a year. They produced a lot less figures for Legend than they did for AOD.

Notice the difference? Prototype Lara has only 1 nade behind her while final version has 3, and her arm is somewhat located differently. The real difference is her facial look, and the color they use are somewhat different.
If anyone has any info about them, even if it cost 5000, please let me know. I am dying to see Lara.

They do NOT cost $ 5000. The last eBay auction I followed ended somewhere near € 900 (US$ 1130). But I live in Germany where they are produced. And shipping is quite expensive as well.

Are you looking into buying the prototype or the finished product? I got in touch with Eidos recently and I've been told they run out of stock for the Legend statues. I'm not so sure right now, but IIRC, there were only 300 units produced so it's really scarce. I still hope to get one, but I don't think fate has reserved one for me.
I don't think the prototypes are sold as they simple represent a WIP.

I thought I post the links so people have the chance to get one, I thought that's what forums are for?
And as you might have seen --> the auction is listed in Germany and I am from Austria so I am not advertising them, neither do I have know of these as fake --> I just looked for the Pictures and the discription, and so it sound's like originals to me, that's why I posted the link here.
I have my own but some people here are desperate to get one, that's why I did it --> I am sorry I will never bother you guys.

Hi,
I had no idea that it's some sorts of "illegal" to link things like that --> had I know it I just would have postet the fact that there are some Replicas on eBay. And had I known that these 2 Replicas are fake --> I wouldn't even have considered to post it here.
Like I said in my first post, I am new to forums and I made the account here just to keep up a litte with the new Underworld Game --> so I searched around the Forum and I found this topic about the the LifeSize Laras --> I had no idea people are looking so desperately for them, considering how easy I got mine --> and because I search for cool TR Stuff on the internet almost once a week, I came accross those Auctions and thought, "great, that's stuff to post" and that's why I posted it. I didn't want to make it look like "Advertising" I just like to give things a "clean" look --> no questions left, maybe that's why you thought it would be advertising.
Let's say I've learned my lession and from now on I will be quiet and just read the posts and not repost anything.

Look's pretty much like the one I have, maybe this one is real.
Maybe someone who know's should look and let those who want one know if it's real or not, so they can bid or at least make an offer.
