as a great fan of LoK series - it would be a plesant sight if compilation of LoK games can be made.

blood omen, blood omen2, soul reaver, soul reaver 2, defiance - having them all together in a package would be fantastic

Honestly, I would just like to have Blood Omen and Soul Reaver ported to the PS2. Of course, SR would be the Dreamcast edition. I need to get rid of my lingering DC games since Shenmue has been canned, so there is no point in me keeping 2 games to an unfinished story, and Soul Reaver is the only other one I have. As for Blood Omen, my PS1 copy is completely screwed up and skips during the cinemas.

If they do do that(which they probably won't) Then they should include a buttload of extras.

There are currently no plans to release a collection. There is, however, a pseudo-collection of Blood Omen, Soul Reaver and Fighting Force that was released for the PSX a few years ago.

Darn, oh well. Looks like I'll have to find a new copy of Blood Omen from someplace. It is too bad that the DC version of SR never got ported to PS2 since the PS1 version is vastly inferior.

I disagree. I FAR prefer the PSX version.

Put it in a PS2 with smoothing on and it looks really quite nice.

I have 2 problems with the DC version really:

- Raziel's face doesn't look right. the shape of his eyes is less intimidating

- when you're dodging about in autoface mode on DC if your shuffle forwards you ALWAYS attack. On the PSX version you can shuffle forwards and choose to attack when you want to.

also, Raziel is really rather purple on the DC if I remember correctly (it's been a while since I played my DC at all)

Blame that on the DC controller. However, the graphics are sharper, less blurry, and makes things easier to see when compared to the PS1 version. Yes, I really prefer the PS1 controller, but I'll take the better looking version.

Turn on the smoothing on your PS2 and play the PSX version then (like I already said). SR has to be one of the few games that really does shine when you enable the smoothing.

To each their own I guess. Graphics never really bothered me with anything though. the PSX graphics are some of the best the PSX ever had, and with smoothing it looks really nice.

EDIT: the DC pad is the 2nd worst pad in the UNIVERSE. 2nd only to the monster that was the N64 controller. It certainly did a good job spoiling all my fun on DC

What's smoothing?

on psx at the main browser press triangle (I think. It's been a while). you get an options screen where you can change a few settings (including turning on smoothing and fast loading times for PSX games).

It basically blurs all the jagged polygons together to make it look a lot nicer and less grainy. If you play with the camera to see RAziel close up you'll see how huge the difference is. It almost looks like SR2.

Is this PS1 or PS2? Because I have the slim version of the PS2 (got rid of the big piece of junk, if you know what I mean).

and the 'big piece of junk' was better than the slim PS2 for the following reasons:

- the slim version is made with very cheap components and is renowned for having problems with their unreliable laser (and in all fairness all sony products seem to have this problem, but the slim PS2 moreso)

- it cannot fit a hard drive.

I would expect the slim PS2 to have the same menu for Psx games. The same menu also tells you what DVD driver version your PS2 is using. leave the disc out and press triangle. That'll bring up this menu.

Yeah, I misread your post at first and missed it.

1. While it does make the graphics look better, the opening video is still quite blocky and grainy, and for some reason, the screen looks like it is made of lines. I'll stick with my Dreamcast edition though, but thanks for the info nontheless.

2. I went through 2 big PS2s, while I have never had a problem with the slim one at all.

3. The harddrive is a useless piece of crap anyway, and was/is way too expensive. Besides, there is only one game that needs it, and it was a game I have no interest in.

oh but Dr!

you've not seen the true powers of the PS2 hard drive!!!

(unfortunately I don't want to mention them here because it'd be too easy to take the discussion out of bounds. And I don't want banning ;) )

*** goes back to playing his PS2 with no loading times or laser wear***

but yeah, the intro movie is very low resolution on PS2 but it's not something I worry about really. To each their own I guess. I have both versions and to be honest, I've not played either in about a year now (maybe longer), but I couldn't see any chance of me putting the DC version on. My DC is only good for gathering dust really now :(

See, I just marathoned the LoK games 2 weeks ago.

Mon was Blood Omen (and the cinemas kept freezing up and stuff, so I need a new copy)
Tues was Soul Reaver
Wed was Soul Reaver 2 and I started Defiance
Thurs was Defiance
Fri was the finale of Defiance
Thurs I got Blood Omen 2 (for GC) in the mail and beat that this past Monday.

Man I want another LoK game.

As for the DC, I have both Shenmues, Sonic Adventure 1, and Soul Reaver. Thanks to Sega cancelling Shenmue now, I might as well just get rid of them.

My bro dug our DC out of his closet the other day, and naturally I had to play SR1.

And I have to say I completley agree with the sentiments about the DC controller not being too good for this game. Other than that, I love it very much... considering I lost my PSX copy somewhere between either the move from Florida to Maryland or from Maryland to Nebraska. D=

I wonder if that aformentioned PSX collection is still around. I wouldn't mind having a non-skippy copy of Blood Omen at some point or another.
