FINAL FANTASY VII was put out by Eidos and it is the greatest Fantasy RPG ever created. All of them created since then have been disappointing although Final Fantasy XI just might be different...multiplayer online game.

Behind the enemy lines(BEL) = Commandos 1
Beyond the call of duty(BTCD) is the add-on (which you can play without BEL.

Commandos 2: Men of Courage is the sequel to Commandos 1. Hope that clears it up.

Really, StarTopia is the best Eidos game I have ever played. It is also the most original game of all. It's kind of like putting Dungeon Keeper I and II into a spacestation with aliens instead of minions and robots instead of Imps. And an Energy Collector instead of a Dungeon Heart. I mean, you have to get tired of action games sometime. I used to play Jedi Knight constantly on Zone, but then got bored with it (Which led to some interesting combinations).

Now, who wants to see my space ship?

My ratings:

Tomb Raider: I played a few demo and hated them. Not only is it just action, but it is overall just the same as other action games, exept with animals as enemies some times. The movie was slightly better, however.

Deus Ex: Second best, very original RPG/Action game. One of the few games to talk about the Illuminati. Got it for Christmas.

Final Fantasy VII: Third, I like the SNES version much better though.

IGI: Not enough sniping. Just the same as other action games...

Commandos: The gameplay reminded me of Army Men. With the view of things and how you control the characters. But Army Men was god awful...

Don' judge people that way, i've played a lot of games, and out of all, StarTopia is up there with the best. If you think StarTopia is as not good, have you played it yet? I rather like a RTS Game where war is not the goal in a Sci-Fi game. And it has quite a bit of humour in it too.

FFVII never appeard on the SNES. It was a PlayStation game.

Squaresoft (makers of the FF Series) decided they wanted to do a port to PC so they signed an agreement with Eidos to publish the resulting PC port.. I don't know who actually coded the port Eidos or Square.

So.. we have a poll for best Eidos series.. I vote Tomb Raider easily.. well done to Core Design too!

Best game Eidos has put out - FFVII; even though the PlayStation original is quite a bit nicer than the PC port.. it's still a top game.

Startopia and Deus Ex shouldn't even be in the list(do any of you have a retail copy of Deus Ex 2? It should be great, they do have a great team, I think the same for Thief 3, but neither are finished so neither exist).

The Thief series is the best in my opinion, with Legacy of Kain coming in next for series. In single games it's Thief 1 then Deus Ex.

I tried a Tombraider demo a few times, but anything that starts off with a jumping puzzle gets immediately uninstalled. I haven't played Commandos, Fear Effect, and Timesplitters. Startopia was so choppy it was unplayable, FF7 is an amazing game, Hitman was great.

BTW, would some helpful mod edit the poll to spell Thief correctly.(edit: thank you)

I don't know if it was my system or the video card change(sans format) or what, but it was choppy as ell(also very slow to load), I could give it another try. I just looked at the min requirements and saw that I'm just above, so that could be the problem.

Action? More like sneaking and waiting for me, avoiding conflict, non-lethal options when there's no other alternative(this is why Thief and Deus Ex are at the top of my list). Eidos doesn't publish much that isn't action from what I can see.

I highly doubt there would be that many female fans due to a large breasted main character. Maybe for the idea of the character, but not for the breasts. With all the porn on the net wouldn't the Tomb Raider series have disappeared by 1997? There must be something more.

Do you like Startopia because you want to rebuild the universe after the apocalypse? Most likely not, you probably like it because it's fun, and most likely the Tomb Raider fans like their game for the same reason, that's why I like Thief. If you don't find it fun, why are you playing it?


It's too bad marketing plays such a big role in gaming, marketing doesn't make a game better, but it does give higher sales and a larger market. All the boys upstairs see is the golden dollar signs(or lack of).

If it wasn't for Daiktana sucking money through a straw there would already be a Thief 3 and Deep Cover from Looking Glass(luckily one is in development, but the other is probably lost forever).

my all-time-favorite (must be because i like gooooood storylines). this time you`re not some goody two-shoes, but you can raise hell on humanity. story is good, with a few twists, excellent character building.

good one! requires the player to actually think "stealth". you can`t go in guns blazing. thinking is the key. like these games

i haven`t played this one, so i can`t judge what it`s like

sequel mania. same moves, characters, enemies, levels, weaponry (you get the idea.) with in every sequel slightly enhanced graphics. due to a HUGE marketing campaign, this is the most popular series. if you want a game with story, depth, and realism, go look somewhere else though. (or do you think Lara could really walk with those boobs? she would snap in half..)

this game is great, provided you have the hardware to run it. loads of sci-fi humor here! if you`re looking for a sort of Dungeon Keeper in space, and you see this one, give it a try.

I haven't played em all but, Tomb Raider was generic, though the puzzles were somewhat interesting along with the variety of moves. I lost interest after TR 3. Fear Effect didn't do it for me, I traded that game soon after I started playing it. As for the rest on the list, sorry! I haven't tried them yet.

Erm, actually, Square developed and mareted FF VII on the PSX long before it made PC port... And Eidos was just the marketing company on that one, so it's not an Eidos series... Doesn't count.

What kind of series does this poll refer to, exactly? I mean, StarTopia has a series of mods and fan sites in existence, which could be considered part of a StarTopian series. I mean, they are all levels/missions for StarTopia, and since they are part of StarTopia, an Eidos game, then the mods are part of the game. So, technically, by voting for a game, many people are also voting for mods, which enhance the game, so mods should count, which means they're part of the game. Otherwise they would have to be discluded on grounds that they have no relevance, lessening the enjoyability of quite a few games. And since the mods are part of the game and are a series in themselves, obviously they must be an Eidos game series. Am I trying to weasel around the poll's wording? Well, perhaps. ;) But only a little. :D

Only kidding. I did download a demo of Soul Reaver 2, which I'm pretty sure is from the LoK series, and while it was fun it was an extremely SMALL demo . . . shame. While I enjoyed the demo it's not enough for me to vote for LoK nor buy it. Startopia is still on top for me. :D

It's at this point I have to recommend a reality check. Better selling games = more people on their forums = more votes. StarTopia's a great game, but it was only aimed at a "niche audience", where games like LoK have a much greater general appeal. For us Star Trek watching, HHGTTG and ACC reading StarTopian's, it's the best damn game out there. Don't worry friends, it's quality, not quantity! :)

IMHO, the Legacy of Kain story is much more depthful than any of the TR series... However, compared to other games, LoK's puzzles actually have some substance.

SR1 did have alot of annoying block puzzles, though.

SR2 had some nice Forge puzzles, with reflecting mirrors and wind gusts and all that stuff. The Fire Forge in Janos Audron's Retreat comes to mind...

(I was stuck between Thief & LoK, but for conveniency's sake, I voted for the one most likely to gain votes. Don't worry, Garrett's still my first love...)

1) The best Game series made by eidos is Championship Manager. The latest 03/04 is genious and i cant stop playing it.

2) i am trying to find a game it is made by eidos and i reaqd about it in a Cham Man magazine. It works the same way as Cm but its based on Ice Hockey/ American Football i cant quite remember which but i cant find it.

1. Complex storyline that does indeed make you think (it's all a paradox! *in a Simon voice*)

2. So well planned that it manages to keep all of those paradoxes straight across the span of 5 games (so far)

3. Combat is fun and amusing. Not too difficult, not too easy. Gotta love stealth kills in Blood Omen 2:D

4. You get incredibly happy upon reaching the next checkpoint let alone a whole new level:)

5. The voice actors are incredible, the animation rocks, and the music is unbelievably powerful and well done

Anyway, the Legacy of Kain is the best games series full stop. Tomb Raider's the same kind of thing but without the attitude. (Oh, sorry, I meant 'the superb voice acting and thought-provoking plotline.')

Basically, Tomb Raider doesn't have Raziel. So there. And LOK doesn't just have Raziel (purr, purr) it has Kain, as well! (meouwr!) So yeah, no competition, as far as I'm concerned.

I been reading some of the threads in this forum, and i have to agree that every games has his/her good side to it, i mean, who doesn't know Tomb Raider.....

Deus Ex redifine the FPS/RPG hybrid, while Theif owns the FPS/stealth kinda type....

And lets not forget about Hitman, although i doesn't revolutionize any genre, it's just good....

But LoK is the best... why is that?, you may ask yourself...

I mean, the story, the characters, every game in the series (yes, even Blood Omen 2....)is bound to the storyline, in a very magnificent ( although sometimes in a really twisted and confusing) way.

We see, not just the evolution in terms of graphics, gameplay and inventive, but the moral and sentimental growth of every character that's important to the storyline....

Agreed, both Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Invisible War have an excellent Storyline. And them being both RPG games makes it even more excellent. I'm not into games that just have one way of winning while Deus Ex, you've got several ways.

It makes the game fun and more enjoyable. Naturally, it's like all games and has it's flaws but Deus Ex is an excellent Series and the majority of RPG games are just stand out superb.

Legacy of Kain has had 5 games and only 1 of them was subpar to the rest and that one despite it's many flaws is a damn fun game.

Tomb Raider built it's Legacy soley on Lara's breasts. Legacy of Kain built it's legacy by being more elegant and better than the rest.

Tomb Raider has been the best series on the Playstation console and since Tomb Raider: Legends, the games are really starting to shape up. Also due to the fact that an Anniversary Edition is coming out. TR has been around as one of Eidos' longest games and has done pretty successful throughout all of it's time (except for the game TR: AOD) so I believe that Tomb Raider deserves the most credit as being part of Eidos.

I'm an adult (over 40) female player of Tomb Raider. I have been playing it since 2000, starting with The Lost Artifact, then games 1 through 5, including the golds. I'm currently playing AOD. Its legacy is its adventure, mystery, and puzzles. Only immature boys care about her fake polygon breasts! LOL

You say "considered horrid" which gives me the impression you did not play Tomb Raider at all; so how can you say it's bad?

I would love to play LOK someday. I have talked to some players on these forums who like the game and I have seen screenshots, so I am NOT going to diss a game I have never played. :)

I don't know how you arrived at that opinion, just like Rose662 I am an adult female player and hetrosexual I might add and so Lara's breast have no bearing on me being a fan on the series. For the entire game the camera is behind Lara so her breasts aren't even in sight, and I'm yet to meet a guy who is actually turned on by polygons :rolleyes:

Need I say more? Well since this is my first post on the forums I will -

I am an avid follower of both the Legacy of Kain series and the Tomb Raider series. The first game I ever bought for my now deceased PS1 console was the amazing Tomb Raider 2 and although I have bought each Lara's subsequent outings I almost stopped buying any more Tomb Raider games after TR5 Chronicles. The simple reason was that the gameplay & storyline was becoming repetitive and their where no other central characters of interest apart from Lara.

I think Melkane accurately summed up why the LOK series is best. The characters are more interesting, the voice acting far better and the plot and locations vastly superior. The only similarity is that the gameplay is now quite similar in both games. This was kind of evident in the fact that the TR7 had Lara weilding a sword not unsimilar to the Soul Reaver, oh and the picture of Kain hanging in her mansion :lol:

After buying Soul Reaver I have been in awe with the Legacy of Kain Series and after buying Soul Reaver 2 was sufficiently hooked to even obtain the original Blood Omen game by Silican Knights (difficult to find these days). How many followers of the new TR game would back-buy TR1 or 2 for that matter? :whistle:

You may ask why have I continued to buy Tomb Raider games and the simple answer I do not dislike the Lara series but unlike the Legacy of Kain series, I now only purchase Tomb Raider if there are no better games out at the same time. Wheras, even though its' been almost 4 years since the last LOK game was released I still eagerly await its' return on the next gen consoles.

Eidos take note of the polls and give the loyal fans of LOK what they want ;)

I think Tomb Raider has definitely made their best sales. I like Hitman but I think they could make much more with it. Maybe they could use the same engine as Tomb Raider to implement the movements ability and fluidity.

Legacy of Kain beats Tomb Raider
LoK has always had excellent graphics and amazing music
I prefer the LoK gameplay
As to the story, chatacters and dialog, Tomb Raider can't even compare to Legacy of Kain :)

Philip, given the fact no new Legacy Of Kain game has been produced in over 3 years and so many people still shout about it, is testament to how great the series was and still is. I would definately recomend purchasing and playing each of the games in the series.

You will likely find the original Blood Omen game hadest to find since it was made by Silican knights approx 10 years ago but the more recent games should be readily available.

If possible try to play the games in order as it will help enrich the gameplay experience and give a more detailedunderstanding of the storyline and motivation of the characters involved. The order of the games is as follows:

Blood Omen
Soul reaver 2
Soul Reaver 2
Blood Omen 2
Defiance

Lastly, I totally agree with you Paradoxical Life. Tomb Raider is probably Eidos most succesful game in terms of making money. Graphically the last game was quite stunning but as I've stated in a previous thread it was far, far too short! I've bought and played each of the Tombraider games in the series and in my oppinion 2 & 4 were the only ones I liked alot and actually played more than once.

Yes, TR still commands selling power but given the fact Eidos opted to remake the original game suggests a lack of new ideas for any future games in this series. Maybe when Eidos feel up to it :rasp: they may decide to give Legacy of Kain another crack of the whip ;)

The remake does not nessesarily mean a lack of new ideas. In this case, I think, the remake means "get more money" ;) .....why not a Legacy of Kain remake, ah!?....
and by the way, everybody knows what is Tomb Raider but there are so many people that have no idea what's Legacy of Kain (like Phlip) and that only shows how much money are spent for Tomb Raider hype/commercials...Legacy of Kain is 100% the better product (I say product cuz it's not only a better "game"...LoK is more than a game ;) ) but with poor marketing. Still I prefer spending the budget for the game rather than spending it for marketing (and it's no surprise that TR's budget is a lot more than the budget a LoK game has )

Legacy of Kain is a game series with one of the best stories, characters, dialogs ever (in my opinion - the best). If you are clever enough to understand it and have heart witch can feel than this game will own your soul

Hitman serise most noteably no# 2 Silent Assassin, creates the best OST ever with the best game ever, mixes stratergy with action creates a game where there is more than one way to do the mission, do you run in all guns 'a' blazin or do you skulk in the shadows picking your targets off, if you ever have the chance you must download the song '47 makes a decision' when it occurs in the the game, it is very well suited, jesper kyd to you I take my hat off,

At one time Tomb Raider was at the head of the technology curve, but that pretty much ended after the first volume. Since then, many fans of Tomb Raider seem to place it above other games just because it stars a voluptuous female. In terms of complexity, features, gameplay, storyline, graphics, and pretty much everything else Deus Ex has stood above Tomb Raider. I suspect a great many of the gamers who rate Tomb Raider above Deus Ex really haven't actually played Deus Ex. It seems to receive only a fraction of the publicity that Tomb Raider enjoys. Possibly because a big part of the gaming news community is made up of men in their early 20's whose libidos go into overdrive when they see a digital impression of a female in tight clothing?
