I cant handle Laura with the keyboard. So I want to use my thrustmaster gamepad. But when I configure it in the game it wont detect what controll I have pressed. Yes it is pluged in. Yes it works. just doesnt work with this game for some reason. Is there something I can download or do I just return this game?

Before starting the game, open 'control panel/game controllers' (as it is known in XP...I think it is 'multimedia' in 95/98).
Double check to make sure the PC is seeing your controller, then quit and start the game, but not from the start-up screen that appears when you load the disc. Try it from your start menu instead.

The TR games are finicky about not seeing controllers sometimes.

You could also check the Thrustmaster website to see if you have the latest drivers for your controller.

Hope this helps.

nope neither starting game from the start menu or looking up drivers worked.

I went to the thrustmaster site and looked up my firestorm digital 2 and it says it is made to automatically update through windows. I am thinking of just going to get a new control pad from like Logistic or Microsoft. maybe then it will work.

thanks for the helpful tip. I dont know how to thank you lol.

I use a Gravis Digital Xterminator, and it works fine on my PC with TR3 under Windows XP.

What OS do you have?

There is a Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - Q311514 that says that the Thrustmaster Dance Pad may not work correctly in Windows XP. It says that this is fixed in Windows XP Service Pack 1, which can be obtained from the Windows Update web site.

Does Thrustmaster Dance Pad describe the gamepad you are talking about, is it something different?

The fix for this device is one of 312 fixes listed for the Windows XP Service Pack 1.

 I ran into a similiar problem with Logitech Rumble Pad. The TR games won't recognize it under any platform. I had stayed with Microsoft Sidewinder Game Pad which work fine within these games.

I've got a Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power, & I've been able to use it on my XP for TR2, TR3, Lost Artefact, Level Editor, plus the downloaded extra levels for 2 & the Times Edition without any problems--did you use the disc to install yours? I did this and also checked for updates from the Thrustmaster website before I began using it. It's been a great pad, and it'd be a shame if you had to chuck yours in...

lc,england - do you think you could send me your preset for your Thrustmapper setup for TR? I can't get it to work without jerky gameplay!

I'm at djl1@nycap.rr.com.

Thanks! - dawilli

Does TR3 support force feedback?

I'm afraid I'm far from technical and some terms annoyingly confuse me.....

All I can say is that I plugged the 'pad in, installed with the enclosed disc, then checked out the Thrustmaster website to download any & all updates for XP. After that, I calibrated it via the peripherals window, and voila, it worked with no problems. I apologise for not being more helpful--give me about 20 years and my knowledge of computers will catch up with the rest of yours;)
