Going gold doesn't refer to the # of copies they sold, it means that they are finished with the game and the master copy was made so they can start duplicating the disc. Just thought I'd clear it up. ;)

Thats makes no sense at all. Out of all the games i've seen come out, they don't say "It went gold!" just because they finished making it.

Sorry but it means the game is complete. Trust me. When it comes to the gaming industry "going gold" refers to the game being complete and ready to be sent to the factory

Gamespot:
In Eidos' upcoming third-person shooter, 25 to Life, gamers will be able to play both sides of the law. Whether they choose to be cops in blue or street thugs decked out in red, the game is one color today: gold. Eidos today announced that development on the game is complete, and the master copy is off for duplication. The game will be available to the public January 18 on the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PC.

IGN:
Eidos announced today that 25 To Life, the long-in-development action title from Avalanche Software, is now officially gold. That means the game is code-complete, and ready for its street date of January 18.

Credit goes to Ign and Gamespot.

Thanks kevork :).

Can't wait to watch everyone go online and then actually see that they can't play as one type of character the whole time :p.

It has nothing to do with the amount of pre-orders there have been or whatever. It purely means that the development of the game has finished and that it's ready for mass production. ;)

So yeah, SiLENT NiTE is correct. :)
