Well, that's impossible, bearing in mind that Tomb Raider 1 was released LATE in 1996.

I think I understand. I liked certain things about the TR1 Lara as well, especially in the FMV. I liked the TR2 FMV Lara best out of any of the FMVs. I think she looked very strange in TR5, and a little strange in TR4. In Legend, Lara certainly looks great, but it would be nice to see some of her old movments back. If I understand you correctly, I think that you liked the TR1 movements, but you still really like the TRL body? If that's the case, I agree with you  .

I'm agree with this guy. Old Lara, was more manuvrable and the latency implemented created in TR 1 to 5, gave her a more natural look, more plastic, fluent. Overall it was also more easy to control her and do the job for completing tasks in the game. In the newest three versions controlling Lara is hard to do. The player must do some effort to make complex moves with joystick and keyboard. TRAOD, TRL and TRA are all good games with nice graphic and good enough stories and puzzles. If Lara control and movements where the same as those from TR 1 to 5 plus the addons Tomb Raider will continuue to be a hit on the games market. If they will continuue with this new way to control Lara, the game quota will be constantly mediocre. There are some games that marked this industry, with logical control interface natural movements like Tomb Raider 1-5, Homeworld 1, Age of Empire, Hilf-Life 1. This mentioned games need only new stories and puzzles, better graphics and nothing else. New engines used to control the characters in actual games are far behind them. One exception is the simulation games category, that was constantly improved and you can find astonish simulasion games today.
I have license for all TR versions, except TRAOD, TRL and TRA and I will not by this versions if the old Lara behavior and control will not be implemented again with some patches, updates, addons or mabe in a new version I will be granted with a real anniversary edition to please me and lots of other users ho loved this game from the beginning.

New Lara only beats old Lara only on turning corners. It was a pain to turn Lara while running in the old games. I much preferred her old animations and move set. Some of the new animations are just painful to watch (vertical jump) and the downsizing of Lara's athletic abilities mean it's just not as efficient or fun to get from one place to the other. Also, Lara's abilities don't stay consistent throughout the game. Ledges she can easily climb in other levels are programmed out in others (e.g., Lost Valley.) This is frustrating as well. Lara's abilities should be consistent.

Don't get me wrong---I don't ming the ledge hopping or pole swinging. It's just that needing those objects to get Lara around also means the path is pretty well laid out for me. Give Lara back some height and length to her jumps, and the game will feel more familiar.

I second that with so much emotion you wouldn't believe. In TRL & A, sometimes it seems as though Lara barely manages to leave the ground when she jumps. Come on Crystal, I want Lara to throw herself into her jumps like she used to!

Well guys, I think it's all part of the game. I remember reading about Lara's death here somewhere and here's my theory on this. Lara did die so to speak as PS1 went out and was brought back to life when PS2 came in. The game movements were redesigned and I doubt they will ever come back. This is a new era for TR. Instead of rehashing the old games, the're moving in another direction. I too miss the old movements, had to learn how to play all over again. The new visuals more than make up for any short comings and they did one superior job redesigning our heroine. I play on a 50" plasma and I'll tell ya, the visuals are awesome.
