View Full Version : X-men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse
Has anyone got this yet? I know it's out in the US now but not the UK yet. I should be getting the USA one soon but I'm not in a rush due to FFXI taking up all my spare (and un spare) time. Anyone know all the x-men this time? *prays for wolverine to have his brown spandex and colossus to be able to do a fast ball special*

As I mentioned in the X-Men Legends thread (http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=47599) I pick my copy up on Wednesday. **insert YAY here**
EDIT: Scratch the above, I'm picking my copy up in about thirty minutes. (My Pre-order voucher says the 28th, but you and the Best Buy site say otherwise).
You may find this of interest for characters. (http://mutantvault.xmenlegends2.com/)
EDIT 2:
I came across a screenshot of Wolverine in the brown outfit I believe. I will try and track it down. Jean Grey is also in Phoenix garb this time around. Scarlet Witch was an interesting addition, IMO. I'm really psyched about Omega Red and Archangel.
wow sounds good. I think it was out on the 21st there.
PRAYS for chamber and penance (tho I know it won't happen....)
OMG! You can get Age of apocalypse skins!!!!!!! *swoons*

The Best Buy site says the 22nd, but typically releases here occur on Tuesdays (which would make it the 20th). At any rate, it's out and I have it now. :D
Probably no Chamber and Penance as far as playable characters, but that doesn't rule out an appearance. Remember that Bishop made an appearance in the first game.
I'm headed off to play for a couple of hours. I'll be sure to report back to you on what I think. :)

Well, after approximately five hours of play, I'm still in the process of completing the first level.
My thoughts thus far:
Combat is good. Not much different than the first game
The Team Mangement area is a bit trickier this time around
More generic armor this time (belts, gear, suits, and bands). The specialized armor is for an individual mutant (e.g. Storm's armor).
You start off with more of a variety of team members:
Wolverine, Jean Grey, Storm, Juggernaut, Scarlet Witch, Sunfire, Toad, Magneto, Rogue, Cyclops, Bishop, Colossus, Iceman, Nightcrawler, and Gambit. Judging by the website I linked to, it appears there are more allies than Deadpool remaining. (About four or five other than him I believe).
Some notable appearances thus far:
Blink, Blob, Pyro and Caleb Bann (who becomes Caliban - a Morlock and one of Apocalypse's Four Horsemen at one point in the comics) and Sabretooth.
Overall, I'm digging it. The team management area takes a bit of getting used to as it is a bit different this time around. This game even gives you the ability to assign what button your special moves go. (Have to be careful because sometimes when you obtain a new move, it wants to automatically take over a spot. (E.G. Storm's whirlwinds change to whirlwind shields when you start adding points to that power).
I figure I'm nearly finished with the first level which I'm not sure if I mentioned, is Genosha.
It's just about as good thus far as the first one, IMO. And some of the interaction between X-Men and Brotherhood members are pretty amusing. :)

Cool, keep us posted, I'm seriously considering this one (unless a friend gets it first in which case I might just play his copy until I have a bit more cash freed up). Have you been able to do any cool team attacks like in the commercial (magneto lifts & throws semi, Wolverine slashes it, storm sets it ablaze). I know they won't be that complicated, but anything like that yet?

I've done a few combos with Wolverine and Storm (whom I primarily use because they rock!) I can't remember what it was called though. Managed to pull one off with Storm and Bishop as well.
My characters are up to about level 13 or so (give or take one). A lot of the more intense special moves can't be acquired until I hit level 14 +. I think one downside to the game is that everytime you level up (at least this early) you only get four points to distribute amongst your stats and one point for your skills. It's frustrating, especially seeing as I'm used to moving up in stats and moves quicker in the last game.
Good advice for leveling up; destroy everything you can. ;)
Will let you know how things go tonight after I get home.

Well, I'm moving up in the world. I managed to complete the first level and head into the second. While I have had little to no trouble with the enemies and bosses up until this point, I've noticed that this has changed a bit as I've progressed.
I've been bombarded with numerous enemies, most of which are energy resistent and many whom continue to regenerate. The bosses, Mikhail Rasputin (Colossus' brother) and Sugarman were quite challenging too. Mikhail duplicates himself and sends enemies after you as well, only when you beat the enemies down, they turn into control panels, one of which you have to find and hit to lower Mikhail's shield to hit him. The control panels, however can be wedged up against a wall, making it rather difficult to use it. All the while, Mikhail is using this sheild / laser-type thing that you have to play "jump rope" with. I didn't die on this level, but it was a pain. Sugarman was weird. I'm not sure what the exact method to defeating him is/was other than physical attacks work better than special attacks. He lashes you with his tongue (much like Toad does) and if he catches you up close, he can take you out with just a couple of hits. I managed to lose most of my party, however, Cyclops came in handy. I figured out to run out of range, let Sugarman attack, run in for a hit, and repeat. This was very tedious, trust me.
Other notable cameo's at this point:
Beast (whom I forgot to mention earlier), Forge, Mr. Sinister (who appears to be a boss later on), Havok, Vindicator, Angel, Mikhail Rasputin, and of course Apocalypse. Brief mention of Sebastian Shaw as well. I'm still not sure who the remaining characters are. :p
With any luck, I'll be able to continue my game tonight after my Accounting exam. :D

Well, after a few days of no play, I managed to get back into the action early this morning.
I'm still in the Weapon X Facility and accompanying levels. The Core and Infinite Factory were pains in my butt that's for sure. I think the hardest part of this level was the amount of enemies that attacked me and the type they were. Some were Goliath warriors and robot things that would shoot and hover around you. Sometimes they'd shoot so much, it would take out a party member in like two seconds. Storm's whirlwinds came in handy here. A lot of the enemies in this level are elemental resistent, so it's good to have physical characters involved (e.g. Colossus, Juggernaut, or Rogue).
Good news for fneh: Wolvie gets his brown spandex around level 16. :D
I'm headed into the Madri temple at this point. Should prove interesting.
Notable Cameo's:
Guardian
Remaining characters I discovered via the web:
Professor X, Deadpool & Ironman - whom you collect his armor throughout the game

woot!!! Can't wait to get this game (but I need to find time to play it somehow. I never got far on the first game after getting stuck on that stupid "rescue the ship crew" crap where iceman kept walking off his own ice bridges....

LOL! That sucks! I never had that problem personally, but I do seem to have this issue with Storm when she attacks. Right around the third punch/kick thrown she likes to jump up into the air and hover. Well, if you're in the middle of a fight and not paying attention to when she does this, she dives in for the kill. She really enjoys doing this around chasms, bottomless pits, etc. I'm sure you can do the math here. :p
I've got another title lined up for when I'm done with this one; a buddy of mine bought me Marvel Nemesis: Rise of The Imperfects for my birthday. :D
I saw a trailer for Marvel Nemesis. It looks really cool. I don't know who a lot of the characters are tho :(
I would wet myself if iron fist (or even power man and shang chi) was in it! (but alas, I'll have to settle for wolvie)

I refer you to the Penny Arcade comic of last Wednesday (or maybe it was Monday). I'd link it, but the content is inappropriate for a corporate website, so let me just recommend you give that one a read.

And you're above private channels, why, exactly? :p ;) :D
Haven't tried the title yet. I'm hell-bent on completing X-Men Legends 2.
fneh ~ The newer characters are the Imperfects. From what I read of them, some of them seem pretty cool (e.g. Paragon and HazMat for example). You can read more on them here (http://www.eagames.com/official/marvel/nemesis/us/home.jsp). I'm happy that both Wolverine and Storm are playable characters. (I really hope she has a good kick). Venom looks pretty cool as well.
In regards to X-Men Legends 2, I'm still making my way through the Madri Temple. When I started, I found it a bit difficult as I was constantly bombarded by enemies who gave me a good butt-kicking, but after making some armor and skill changes, it seems as if the board has either gotten easier, or I'm just uber-fierce. I barely lose any health anymore and can take on the world. I should be able to polish this level off tonight.
Notable cameo:
Emma Frost.
heh, 2 or 3 of the women look cool but I seriously don't like the male character designs. They're so......... 10 years ago. Like something out of Death's Head or something.
(tho that said the marvel characters do'nt look all that good either. Maybe I'm being a little harsh cos I don't like the art style that reminds me too much of Thrill Kill)
