At the risk that this post will interest maybe only 4 people in the whole world who might still play the T2 OMs, but, here goes......

I have scientifically determined, at least on my PC, an new and most bizarre glitch I've never noticed before on other PCs. In the Blackmail mission, if you 1st alert the sleeping guard on the second floor(to you Britishers that would be the 1st floor), two things happen : 1) He turns to stone and can't be blackjacked or killed, and 2) frame rates drop in the later part of the mission to a point that the game crashes/freezes and Windows wants to report a problem to someplace. If you Ghost the guard, blackjack him without alerting, or avoid the room, the mission runs fine.

How's that for strange ? :)

Very I'll took a look later tonight and see what happens. Are you running XP SP2 perchance?

I'm pretty sure that's a fairly well known bug. I remember my husband running into it the first time he played T2 which was years ago, though at the time I didn't know it was related to that particular guard. I've always made sure to give him a wide berth when I play that mission (which I haven't done in years, actually!).

You'll find reference to it here (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77378&highlight=Blackmail+framerate) and in this thread (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12548&highlight=Blackmail+framerate) too, just for confirmation.

Funny you mentioned that. I was unaware and will probably be playing that one tomorrw or the next day as I'm giving the OM's another run. (Well I started on Ambushed/Evesdropping/Bank today....yeah...I'm quick but I did ghost Evesdropping  )

Yep, XP SP2 it is.

How interesting its been reported before - 3 different PCs and I've never had this problem before (the frame rate drop anyway, I do think I've had the "guard turn to stone" thing happen before).

Proves you can teach an old Thief new tricks. :)

I must report a slow down for a minute or two...but then things returned to normal. Guess i got lucky. Oh well..on to the next one...I'll probably wake up naked in a hen coop. Not like it will be the first time. :p
