So I have been tooling around with mod'ing Lego Star Wars. Here is some information that I have found. Remember if you start messing with your files bad things can and will happen, so only do this if you understand what is going on, or you like to uninstall and reinstall the game alot. :)
I just spent most the day hacking through the files. Do you want to play as an alternate character? here's what you do, take a character like QuiGonJinn, rename his folder to something like QuiGonJinn2, create a new empty folder that says QuiGonJinn. Now take all the files from another character folder and copy them into the the QuiGonJinn folder, rename all the character named files (IE. if you chose Jawa, all the Jawa files) to QuiGonJinn.
Now not all characters have animations, there is a dirty work around for this. Go back into the QuiGonJinn2 folder and copy all files to the new QuiGonJinn. When it asks if you want to over write say NO. Otherwise you will overwrite all the new files you copied over.
This will allow the new characters to have alot of the animation, but since they weren't authored for them it will look wierd. For example the Jawa's legs get all contorted when he walks.
And now some fun things to do in the Diner:
I bring word from the outside.
C:\Program Files\Giant\LEGO Star Wars Game\lego_data\Stuff\english.txt
Contains all the text in the game, you can change all the text to what you want.
C:\Program Files\Giant\LEGO Star Wars Game\lego_data\Levels\Map\Map_E\AI
There is a Waiter.txt file if you go into it and change false to true:
SetTaggable "TRUE"
You will be able to tag out to the waiter. She doesn't do anything, but its a start. You can also edit the Dexter file and have Dexter walking around your diner.
