i have had a number of rather odd thoughts and i just wanted to run some of them by all of you.

the elder god and the pillars
its said in the soul reaver series that the pillars are "the binding" and the soul reaver is the key. at first i assumed the binding was holding the hylden inside the demon realm, but i was wondering about squiddy's powers. In soul reaver 2, raziel finds squiddy beneath the pillars. to make this quick, maybe squiddy is the one being bound, held beneath the pillars. after their decay, he is free to grow (as seen in soul reaver1) and move about. As for the guardians, each of their positions may be to control, or counter-act squiddy's abilities. When raz finds squiddy in soul reaver 2 he says something alone the lines of "if moebius knew he was worshipping a giant squid etc..." With guardians keeping squiddy's powers in check, perhaps the only thing he can do is communicate with guardians such as moebius and influence them, eventually breaking free. anyway, i have to find some better support for this or rather evidence against.

and finally, time as a loop, i know this is being discussed on the blood omen boards, but what i was going to mention is from soul reaver 2...
kain, in the sarafan stronghold, says to raziel "we have always met here..." , there are a number of other examples where kain makes reference to the fact that the event has occurred over and over and over etc. i believe that the "time as a loop" is simply the effect of streaming. a character progresses through time as he/she should, but once they travel into the past, they have created a loop (easier, atleast for me, to understand if you drew it directly on the timeline of nosgoth).
and one closing thought, with all of kain's streaming and moebius', at no time in the series can we tell exactly which kain or which moebius we are seeing, perhaps the deception is not in knowing the future, but being from the future.
but thanks for any feedback you can give me

Your ideas aren't odd at all :) There have been many discussions on both points.

I personally believe that the Elder God is the representation of the Hylden's collective will and knowledge because as we've all seen he is the one orchestrated all of Raziel's action (except paradoxical moments) Moebius is his servant and he's the one who sends Raziel in time, conveniently allowing him access to the Blood Reaver which will suck him into itself if it weren't for Kain.

As for time as a loop..... think about what Kain said "You must understand, Raziel - we haven't unwritten history, we've merely rewritten it. The future flows around our petty actions, finding the path of least resistance while admitting only the slightest alterations."
So each instance a person goes back in time is different, but the key moments that need to occur do because they are compelled to, and that's why the Reaver is need to truly change events without it's influence it's not possible, even Moebius needed it (Nemesis-Kain).
