You have to know for sure that this game is one hell of a winner when the addiction level rises each day you play. As I become apt at land and sea warfare, not at all bad in the management of my empire, the game shines even brighter.
Once tidied up by a few patches then left open to the modders, IG has to become one of the best hits of 2005.
I’ve already got plans for my next campaign. Dried squid on a butty, I love this game, say to me Total war series and say to you humbug, IG takes the crown, septa and royal slippers.

Besides, RTW was RTS of '04, IG will be the RTS of '05. I have played several RTS games this year and IG, so far, takes the cake for best one.

Your right, RTW starts with a R and IG starts with a I, very good. :)

To be honest mate, you must be pretty sad to play a game for 4 days and nights on the trot. Do you not go out? do you not have a job or school to go to? do you have family? I don't wish to be insulting it's just I find it hard to understand why people do that.

I love the game don't get me wrong, but to play it for 4 days..... well, i think that your a wee bit obsessed!!!

lol. fine then. be a child about it.
so if you want to compare Rome to Imperial Glory then i suggest comparing Europa Universalis to Imperial Glory. who has better gameplay? oh thats right EU!

You obviously haven't played Guild Wars... that is a digital drug that makes Crack look like Sanka. :D

Remember how people used to ask for real sea battles in RTW and would moan and moan and moan about the diplomacy and other assorted management stuff being broke. Well IG has picked up on RTW weakness, and done a fair job. and you can't say they don’t compare just because of the age difference.

both games are fun...

and it is just a personal taste which you like better....

if you like empire building you just have to own RTW and IMPGL

Excellent point. While the naval battles have some growing pains to work out, they at least offer a real-time option not available in the TW series. If you don't like them, then just auto-resolve them -- and you have RTW.

I just wish that they didn't gain experience as if the battles were all easy when you auto resolve, I suck at sea battles and am quite content to leave it to the AI to handle it, I wish my units wouldn't get penalized on experience because I myself can't get a handle on the whole borders or multiple ships with no pause command issues.

Or is this only true of land battles?

I thought I was good at sea battles until a hour ago where I had 2 of my ships sunk by 1 Russian, and that’s without falling of the map. I have 6 sloops heading to that area seeking revenge. They will pay for taking the Great British Empire to be a fool.

yep, they picked up on rtws "weakness" alright but in so doing they lost the good features of rtw.

also, i wasnt one of those people that bxtched about RTWs shortcomings. i just realized what the totalWAR series was all about. WAR. if i had wanted to play diplomacy i would have played Europa Universalis
