Herrerasaurus
At one time considered the earliest dinosaur to ever live, Herrerasaurus, or "Herrera's lizard" was named for a rancher in Argentina, where the dinosaur's fossils were first discovered. Although rather small in comparison to its later relatives like T. rex, at ten feet in length, Herrerasaurus was plenty big for its time and was a dominant carnivore. It was also the first to evolve many important adaptations which predatory dinos continued to possess for millions of years. About 10 feet long from snout to tail, Herrerasaurus runs on its hind legs and is fast enough to run down fleeing prey. Its arms are about half the length of its legs, and are each tipped by three sharp claws for grasping and tearing flesh. Herrerasaurus' sharp teeth are curved towards the back of its mouth to prevent prey from wriggling free.

Wow! It's like I just looked in a mirror. Who'd have thought that my noble species would evolve into Zebras?

Velociraptors
You've probably seen Velociraptors in the movies. If so, you might have seen them do things like open doors, communicate to each other in complex bird-like calls, and outsmart some unlucky humans. Fortunately, Velociraptors were quite smart, but only in comparison to other dinosaurs of the time. In modern terms, their intelligence has been compared to that of an ostrich or a chicken. A typical Velociraptor was around 6 feet long from nose to tail, weighed anywhere from 20-35 pounds, and stood at about three feet high. The much bigger dinosaurs depicted in movies are actually closer to the dimensions of a cousin to Velociraptor named Deinonhychus.

Caudipteryx
Not all dinosaurs are two-ton scaly beasts. The Caudipteryx is a three-foot-tall dinosaur that may be related both to the peacock and the Tyrannosaurus. With a name that means "tail feather," Caudipteryx may be the genetic link between dinosaurs and modern birds. Like its larger relations, Caudipteryx is a predator. Although small in size, its great speed allows it to capture prey much larger than itself. This dinosaur has above-average intelligence, which makes it an excellent hunter. Like many of the other small predators, Caudipteryx is a pack hunter, combining speed, intelligence, and very sharp teeth to make its kills.

I am the ferocious...
DRACORAPTOR!
Actually, none of those weak, small, tasty Dinosaurs describe the Utahraptor. If you want to know how ultimately intelligent and powerful a Utahraptor was, go read Raptor Red. If not, than I will tell you.
You know the enlarged, inaccurated Velociraptors in Jurassic Park? The Utahraptor is a little bigger than that. Except the tails are broom-stick stiff and the snouts are a tad longer. That, and their legs are a little longer as well. Utahraptors were supposivly as smart as modern day dolphins, and did whatever they could to get food. Even if it meant eating their own young, supposivly. Utahraptors were the kings of the early Creteacous, and it was the females (Demorphic, like modern day raptors) who ruled the world. Males were like servants. Although the bonds between both were most likely strong and permanent.
And T-Rexes have been considered big sissys (No offence for the guys/gals who got it) nowdays. According to research, they could not run, at all. If they did, the tremendous stress on their legs from moving far apart, would actually break them, killing them if they cannot hunt. And their feeble little arms provide no hunting usage, let alone to their powerful gripping legs (Again, the stress). T-Rexes are more like giant vultures/condors instead.
