In Defiance when Raziel and Mortanious talk, at the beginning Mortanious is congratulating Kain on killing Moebious and saying
"Come to me my undead son. Make haste to the pillars, the stage is set for the Grande Finale. You will have your vengeance!"
But after getting Janos's heart (I won't be calling it the Heart of Darkness anytime soon) Raziel see's Moebius is alive and has just captured Vorador. Anyone else notice this mistake or am I misunderstanding something here?

There's a Q&A on the lost worlds that answers this.

Moebius is the time streamer, afterall. Maybe he just went forward in time a bit to make sure everything went according to plan.

The Q&A with Amy Hennig on www.thelostworlds.net says this:
Q: Late in the game, Raziel meets Mortanius speaking his "come to me, my undead son" line, which takes place after Moebius is killed by the young Kain in Blood Omen. How can Raziel then run into Moebius in Vorador's Mansion?
A: This is a bit of a mistake due to some shuffling of the story near the end. Moebius was originally not going to make an appearance in the Mansion, but it was decided that it would make the story better to have Raziel face him again before the final battle.
As far as the story goes, I just think that the Elder God resurrected Moebius after young Kain killed him.

Yeah, but the point was Vorador has already been excecuted at that time as well, but Moebius said he still had to see to that.
I read thelostworlds all the time. I even have an article of my works in hacking Defiance on there.

I know that. I posted the question from the Q&A just so it would be easily referenced in this thread. Moebius's presence was clearly a mistake in the story and we can make all sorts of convoluted excuses for it :p In my little version, EG resurrects Moebius, who then goes to taunt Raziel. We know for a fact that EG did resurrect Moebius after Kain killed him (Moebius shows up just in time to meet Kain at the Spirit Forge) so I think it is reasonable that Moebius was resurrected in time to go pay Raziel one last visit and mess with Raziel's head. Moebius is trying to cause Raziel the most pain. I think that, even if Vorador was already dead, Moebius would have implied that he was still alive just so Raziel would have false hope and be frustrated that Vorador was being killed and there was no way to save him. If Moebius had just said, "You lost, Vorador's dead" it would probably not drive Raziel into a frenzy to escape because he knows there's nothing he can do. Moebius wants Raziel to go into a frenzy so he will mess up and get trapped by EG again. I hope I explained my theory more clearly this time now that I'm not in a hurry to get to class:)

This was one of the few things that annoyed me about Defiance. Quality was thrown out of the window for cool-factor, in favour of attracting more mainstream audiences (i.e, 13 year olds who think blood, violence and nudity are cool) I also noticed Ariel's breasts were knocked up a couple of cups and all the female enemies are scantily clad.
Given that Blood Omen 2 incorporated similar such things (the entire Umah character, for example), I hope the next game doesn't continue with this downhill trend.

Yeah I took notice how me and Ariel had about the same cup size (i'm a fat guy) to the point where she probobaly couldn't see her feet looking down, along with how the sorcoressess from Raziel's game were scantily clad with like wise, huge h00ters. I think the Blood Omen 2 team worked on Defiance with character design personally, but outside that I think they were trying to get more 13 year olds in to drive sales away from San Andrea's or w/e other game was released that was rivaling Defiance sales.
I'll post pictures of BO, SR, SR2 and Defiance Ariel later.
Personally, I don't feel this is a big deal.
It was simply a mistake. Mistakes happen.
Also, to those who feel particularly annoyed about this, I feel that they should lighten up and give the guys a break.
Sure, one small mistake was made. However, in comparison, the team have done a superb job regarding continuity and plot throughout the entire LoK series and I feel that to nitpick over one small mistake is petty.
However, if you had to explain it away, you could always go with the idea that Moebius wanted to "get the boot in" on poor Raziel and go to Vorador's execution and so, as he was a timestreamer, decided to be in two places at once... He met Raziel at Vorador's mansion, poked some fun at him, travelled back through time and witnessed Vorador's execution before being killed by Kain.
That's the good thing about being a timestreamer; if you want to be in one hundred and one places at once you can be! :p

If i remember correctly morty never mentioned anything about moby being dead ,when he meets raziel, all he said was make haste to the pillars my undead son ,the stage is set or sumthing then after he talks with raz he teleports away ,now remember in BO1 when kain reaches the pillars morty is already there and we dont know how long hes been there,he could just be watching young kain and sort of guiding/encouraging him to go to the pillars eventually, kain didnt need to have killed moby by then IMHO
I know this was said to be a mistake by C.D but i think it this way it could be wangled

Morty said
"Come to me my undead son. Make haste to the Pillars. The stage is set for the Grande Finale! You WILL HAVE YOUR VENGENCE."
However if you read the script of Blood Omen that means Kain has just killed Moebious the Time Streamer. However, could he have "recoreded" the message while he went out to find Anarcrothe and bring him to the Pillars?

to last post:
im sure morty just sent a message to anacrothe like the one he sent to kain. probably more like "meet me at the pillars, its an emergency!".

I think some of you are possibly wrong, The Mobuis that taunts Raziel is the one from their time, he was probably waiting for Raziel just like most of you have said to taunt Raziel.
If you replay some of the series you will see that in Defiance is much older than the one in BO and is also older than the one in SR2.
I think some time after BO2, Mobius was then brought back to life by EG for use in SR1.

if youre referring to moebius, i think what youre seeing there is an improvement in graphics technology, not necessarily the aging of moebius. im sure you know that bo1 was the first game in the series, and its almost 10 years old. sr2 came out a few years back, and defiance was the most recent. i just dont think moebius' appearance in the games is anything to go on, for that reason.

The creators stated nothing has changed in the timeline of BO1 and the Q & A states this showing of Moebius was simply a mistake. Now, if you want to add something to the story, you can simply say Moebius left that illusion of himself for Raziel like the one he placed for him in Soul Reaver 2. I agree with them that I like the meeting again before the end, so it's a shame it officially doesn't fit. I don't feel that it dumbed down anything in the least... However, it does show how strained for time they were in creating the game.
Ariel's breast size looked less in fact then it did in SR2. Those things were knockers... She also was far more detailed in the rotted skin and flesh of her head, her hands, clothes, etc. If anything, she was far more grotesque in that fashion then the version in SR2, which didn't even show much of a detailed skull underneath. That's a bad example of showing how mainstream the game is...
