Okay, so earlier today I got the urge to play Thief: TDP again, so I attempted to reinstall it. I've already instead it on my current system but initially this time it said there was an error using an auto-execute file so I installed it on my lap top and moved it through the network over to my main computer. Everything was fine for a while, I was able to get the game up to the main menu screen with no problems and adjust settings, etc. But when I tried to start Lord Bafford's mission I got an error that said, "ERROR: Direct3d device driver does not accurately report texture memory usage. Contact your 3d accelerator vendor for updated drives." So, I did just that. I went to the Nvidia site and picked up the newest drives, isntalled and rebooted but low and behold I still get the error. Of course, I could turn off hardware acceleration all together and play Thief:TDP like that, but let's be honest, by today's standards Thief: TDP isn't easy on the eyes at its best performance.
If anyone knows how I can fix this I would greatly appreciate it.
Oh, and my computer specs are:
Windows XP Professional
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
1024MB RAM
DirectX 9.0c
GeForce FX 5600 256MB
The odd part too is that I ran the Direct3D test on DirectX Diagnostics and it showed no problems.
Perhaps I'm being completely ignorant to some simple patch and this long post was wholely unnecessary, but it's too late now, I suppose.
