YES!!!
Lara has returned to her home! Read the new Lara Croft Bio on the site, and see for your self! In black and white (or rather blue and grey) it says "Lara has become something of a recluse since her return to HER ANCESTRAL HOME IN SURREY!
The mansion is there for the playing...but will it be playable? I hope so:).

Nop I don't think so,
1st cuz Lara's home is for training, and recent news said that training will be in a courtyard in Paris' Alleys
2nd The first FMV shows Lara in Paris

well, she is on the run, so I don't think that she'll want to take time to target practice on her butler.

I am not saying that there WILL or WILL NOT be a house training level, I am just saying that any rumors about Lara loosing her house are not true, because on the official site, it says that she gets her house back:).

I thought Lara lost her house etc and all. It doesn't matter the size of the house or whatever but Lara needs some where to live.

I think what it means is after she's returned from the dead, so-to-speak, but before she recieves the word to go see Von Croy in Paris.
-so;
since she's returned from Egypt and possibly from spending some time with African tribes etc. etc. she's back in Surrey, and no one has spoken to her, but she hasn't as yet embarked on the main events of AOD -i.e. going to see V.C. in Paris.
I doubt she'd have actually lost her home irritreveably, t'would seem somewhat a stupid move on the gamers move, let alone been somewhat inconsistent with the actuallities of how such a property would be handelled after the death of it's owner.
That's my take on it anyway....

But if she was presumed dead, and Winston used his retirement fund to go live in the Seychelles with Melinda Messenger, and Lara has no heirs, the house would have to be sold.
Unless her parents have some lease over it?

Surrey!!!! Since when is Lara's home in Surrey? Her home is Hatfield House in Hertfordshire, I should know we are neighbours.

Here's what's interesting. It says she returns to the ancestral home. I thought that after she was disowned by her family, she went off and built her own mansion?
2. If anyone would have remembered in the FMV's in TRC, Winston and Father Patrick are discussing in the car, that it was only a memorial service, and that Lara may still be alive somewhere. So they never actually believed that she was dead. So, without any proof of her death, I don't think they would be able to sell the house.

Ummm...the kinds of mansion Lara and such forth live in were built centuries ago.
You don't just go out and build one nowadays. They are ancestral.

Well most homes in the 'real world' do not just suddenly grow assault courses overnight, or turn a ballroom into an indoor assault course, then back to a ball room, then into a dining room and another assault course. lol
So there are exceptions in the gaming world. :p

The aristocracy do very strange things in this country.
Those items you listed are probably considered 'old hat'...in the real world.

I still feel that her house could be included in the new game as a bonus level or something like that. Core knows that we all like to play and have a bit of fun in her house.
So I say, why not? :)

Is Lara on the run from the very start of the game or is she accused of murder somewhere into the game?
If the latter is so then why should Laras house not be included?
I think it's a wait and see job myself.

She is accused of murder in Paris...the first level of the game.
The rest of the game is spent trying to clear her name/find the actual culprits.
