Crash in Soul Reaver PC

Hi,

I'm getting some problems with the PC version of Soul Reaver. It appears that after a time of playing my save game get corrupted... I'll try to be clearer... I've played until the encounter with Melchia, I've saved the game at that point and I quitted the game.
I've load the game and exactly at a precise spot in the Melchia's dungeon the game crashes and I find myself on the desktop.

This isn't the first time I get this problem... some time ago (a year) I played the game until the Zeaphon's dungeon before getting the same error.

I've tried Uninstalling and Reinstalling the game but none happened. I've installed the 1.2 Patch but after that I'm not able to play since my SR cd isn't recognized any more(I have the original one).

512 Mb of Ram
Sound Blaster 128
GeForce 4 Video Card

NO gamepad

do you have windows xp, if yo do try the unoffical patch from here (http://www.thelostworlds.net/SR1-XP.HTML)

No, I don't have Windows XP. Instead I'm running Windows ME on my PC

one thing u can do is install the 1.2 patch and then to avoid the problems asking for the right cd u just need to erase the file that has an icon with a cd behind bars (I don't remember the name), that should be all you need to run the game with the patch. at least for me it was that...
