help with light forge

I just got the key from the sentry eye

how do I get back to the light forge room to place it in the holder
I can't hold it and jump across either room at the end of hall from
the sentry eye and can't get through the gate

Sorry if this sounds stupid but I'm just stuck and thanks ahead
of time for the help

The gates unlock when you solve the two puzzles to have the light beams hit the special crystals outside of the gate. Play with the mirrors.

You'd be surprised how many times that I've looked at online strat spoiler thingys just to find that the answer is...
