After all the reports of problems people have had, I really didn't expect this.
So now I'm running ThiefGold at 1024x768 on my Athlon64 3000+ / GeForce 5900 FX machine !
Oooo it looks good, feels good, man I'm happy. And there are still plenty of T1 FMs I haven't even looked at yet.
:) :) :)
<s>Also, might even be tempted into making a very small TG-FM next year if anyone is interested.</s>
EDIT:
Nope, it's gonna be for T2 !

Also, might even be tempted into making a very small TG-FM next year if anyone is interested. TG-Fms are good, but if you've checked your e-mail I've made a few arguements against using it, T2 dromed is more stable and you can do more tricks with it.:)

Got your e-mail, thanks for the tips.
I have built FMs using both editors, and I actually prefer the TG-DromED.
In fact, I still prefer TG over TMA. Something about the rendering engine that I can't quite put my finger on, it just looks more real somehow.

In fact, I still prefer TG over TMA. Something about the rendering engine that I can't quite put my finger on, it just looks more real somehow. I think it's the darker shading that seems to blend in well with the more primitive textures. That's one deficiency of T2, you really cant get darker than ambient 20 20 20 without people complaining that they cant see anything, but even at that setting you can still see fairly well, TG's shadows tend to have a sharper contrast.

Also, I think it's because T2 seems to use dithering, while T1 does not. In theory dithering should make it look better, but I prefer the 'clean' undithered look.

Anyway, after a week of DromED-ing, I can now present the first modest screenshot:
