P.S. Dont try to break record right away, it wont turn out to good. You have to know the game inside-out, position of every soldier ,etc.
Difficulty also matters, from personal experience you get the BEST results gamewise and scorewise if you play on Very Hard, because of the sheer fact that it gets difficult.. it goes.. COMMANDOS :P

well go through the game a few times, find out every single quirk.. also use cameras to your advantage, i havent used em much, but when trying to finish something fast, well, lets just say they rock.
p.s. i dont care :D

also expliot the animation-skips as much as you can. 50% of getting a fast speed record is exploiting stuff.

Why are you all obsessed with times? Don't understand me wrong, 46 seconds (or whatever) is insane time and I could never do it myself, but this is not realistic.
I try to accomplish the goals of each missions as realistic as I can. I mean if in real life the enemy saw or hear you once, all hell would break out and they would look for you until they would find you. Not like in the game, when after few seconds all goes back to normal. Also if you knock out or kill soldier after soldier without being seen, the other would still get suspicious why the other soldier isn't at his post (for example - the soldier at the gate). Also in real life you can't afford to leave tied up or dead soldier in the middle of the room that is curently empty, because eventually somebody would walk in and see. Also the shot from the pistol is can be heard much much further as enemies hear it in the game.
So when I play I follow this rules of mine:
- I can not be seen
- I don't use loud weapons (guns, rifles,... sniper rifle is an exception, but then again it isn't that loud) during the missions, I only use them at the end of a mission to shoot my way out if necesarry
- I tie up or kill as few enemy soldiers as I can (this is how I think the scores should be, not the other way around as it is now)
- I hide bodies in the places where normaly they wouldn't be discovered so quickly (under the bed, in boxes, bury them, put them in in the darkest corner of the room, behind the bushes...)
- all the blowing up is done at the end when the escape route is all planed out (for obvious reasons)
Completing the missions in complete stealth is the goal for me, not the times. Times don't impress me at all. I'll be more impressed if you can complete a mission without killing or knocking out a single soldier, than if you can complete a mission in 30 seconds.

look....its a game, its not a real life battlefeild, you'll find with practily everygame theres somthing unrealistik about it, it would be practily impossiable not to kill anyone in the game...so they programed it so that the enemy soldiers wouldnt notice....other wise the game would be impossiable.

Yeah i gotta go with dave on this one...
+ They wouldnt, because german soldiers followed orders, if they were told to be on a post, they would do so, no questions asked.

It wasn't meant as a critic to the game (it's a great game), I just wanted to express my opinion, what is important to me when i play (realistic not times). If it would all be like real life than if you get killed you stay dead - you don't get another chance :D

We must realize it is a game after all. In the days when I was deeply into combat flight simulations I was fanatical about accuracy in every detail. I modded different weapon's rate of fire and plane's stalling speeds and much more.
Commandos gives something to accuracy in the combat setups you can produce with cross cover fire arcs and other details. But it is not accurate in much else. It's a game. It's fun.
I never ran the missions in any way other than to accomplish the mission goals for the end result. I never cared if killing an enemy detracted from score. After the 1st couple runs throughs for max score I forgot all about it and began to enjoy the game for the genius it contained.
There was a smart azz on these boards when C2 was new denouncing EVERY comment a player made with some retort like "That will detract from yout score."
Everybody plays like they wish in the privacy of their home. If some people want to run night of the wolves if 15 seconds great. I modded mine so Natasha and Lupin can tie & gag and it's a whole new mission.
Do I care if Spooky can go into a room and shoot a guy that it might detract from a score? If no one hears the tree fall in the forest does it still make a sound?
If the game was 100% true to life it would suck. One shot would be heard for 3/4 kilometer and every enemy in the game would be aroused. NO ONE tied up enemies. They killed them silently. No commando can afford to have a tied up enemy found who could blabber about it. Dead men tell no tales. There's tons more we've all noticed but the plus side is strong.
The bottom is C2 was really well designed. Every line of sight and angle and shadow was calculated with great care to maximize pleasure of the player. You can play stealth or you can go in with noise. You can tie up goons or kill them. You can kill every enemy on the mission or kill none. You can run missions multiple ways with multiple ingress/egress points. Tactics and strategy are not dictated. You can creatively accomplish goals using various ideas instead of there being a one and only way.
You can challange yourself to run Das Boot the 200th time with a different tactic. You don't HAVE to use the tank in Paris. You can set ambushes and use snipers to wipe out the outside enemies. The list goes on.
C2 is not one dimensional as is C3. Do youself a favor and get deeper into C2. If you've just run the missions a couple times you haven't experience the game.
