Man im getting really pssed off at the game. Im at the part in the Corel Prison where Barret tells the story of where him and Dyne lost their foreamrs and got grafted guns. during the semi-movie sequence where they run off the screen, the screen goes white and game closes out. I think this is happening cuz im running WinXP but i downloaded the xp patch and when i open it, it says FFVII isnt installed on the computer and it wont update it. This is really stupid cuz it was really starting to get good and i dont wanna have to cheat and get someone else's saved game file from the net just to get past this. Can anyone help me?

There are things you can try. But, as for a fix....don't know.
I think the next scene shows Barret's town being burned to the ground. Shows the backdrop with fire imposed on it with the crackling of fire being played. The crash could be sound or video card related.
type dxdiag go to the Sound Tab and play with the slider bar there...put it in Basic mode. If it still crashes, it could be video card related. You can try playing thru in quarter screen mode, in software mode or try different video drivers that are available for your Video Card....like older versions.
It could also be a bad install, try installing the opposite method that you used. If you used Full install try the min install.
If none of those work...the only other thing would be to let some one play thru for you, or get the Playstation version and start over from the beginning. With epsxe you can get by without a console....but I recommend the console.
If you do manage to get thru that part, your still going to need the Chocobo Race Patch. Click the one that says Chocobo Race crash, it's in there.

As for Vamp's XP patch....I wouldn't use it. It screws up the MIDI soundfonts of WinXP. That's why it's so huge. You can do the same thing manually with the TNTpatch and the Chocobo Patch, that the Vamp patch does, without the modification of the MIDI file that the Vamp patch does automaticly.
