TR3- Lud's Gate

Just started playing this game after letting it sit in a closet for several years. I have reached the end of Lud's Gate after going through the pistons and monkey swinging to the opening in the waterfall. But after getting in, there is a box and I have no key. What do I need to continue and where do I get it?

Well, you're in for a long haul back to find the key......

If you shot the guard way back in the storage room, you'll find that the guard dropped the key when he was shot.
