System Specs: Win 98 SE, 700 Mhz Athlon, 384 MB RAM, 64 MB GF2MX400, 61.76 NVidia Forceware Drivers, DirectX 9.0b, 10x DVD-ROM, 53x32x52 Lite-On CD-RW, 3 1/2 floppy, 17'' Monitor.
I could run Thief: Dark Project on the 56.64 drivers (or whatever number they were), but I had to run in Software Emulation mode. Didn't care: it ran.
Now, w/ the new 61.76 Forcware drivers, Thief: DP just won't run at all.
Here's what happened:
1.Installed new Nvidia drivers -- 61.76.
2.Ran Thief:The Dark Project -- it won't run! Blue screen of death w/ some DX listed errors! Had to reboot.
3.Then, to make matters worse, my PC wouldn't boot -- Windows Protection Error!
4.Jumped into Safe Mode. Removed the drivers, put 'em back in. We're okay again. Rebooted machine.
5.Then, step #2 again.
6.Step #3 occured again.
7.Step #4 again.
8.Try NWN. It's fine and runs much better.
9.Try Starlancer. It's fine.
I'm thinking about rolling backwards to 56.64 drivers, but is there a better solution to this?
