Is the Cradle absolutely necessary?

Can I finish the game without doing the cradle? I am really terrified of doing it. I hate scary stuff like that. And if it is necessary, is it less scarier if I do it in Easy mode?

just remember that it's only a computer game.

also know that there are no enemies at all in the outer cradle so you can make all the noise you want at first...

its really not much different in easy mode. the cradle is one of the easiest levels IMO - the scairyness makes it tougher than it really is.
the undead really dont move very fast, and a couple flashbombs will lay any of em out permanently

The first time through, I was pretty spooked. You know the feeling, exploring an old abandoned building in the middle of the night, hearing eerie noises and seeing shapes in the shadows. That kind of spookiness. Second time through, I wasn't spooked at all, I was really disappointed:( I don't know who else is like this, but I like getting spooked, even to the point of freaking out. :eek:
