Just thought I'd ask, if possible state FPS for 1024/768 Rsolution as this appears to be the most popular.

My RADEON 9200 cries everytime I load up Thief 3. Then I tell it to shut up and I have a decent time :)

while thief 3 usually only gets 20-50 FPS for me, it's always smooth so the FPS doesn't seem to matter since the game isnt fast action like UT or Quake

How are you guys measuring the FPS? Fraps? Command Line swithces?

In the City I get around 20, but it dips to 15 a lot. And sometimes 10. :( (Fraps/1024)

well, it has been 3+ years so as to play t1 and t2 with full graphics, 1280x1024, 4xAA, 8xAF and mostly above 50FPS
In another 3 years i'll be able to play t3 with these settings/performance:-)

You should get an XBox.

Thief: Deadly Shadows is really pretty on XBox.

Yes it is. I didn't really notice a slowdown unless there were like four people fighting.

What happens when the all out brawl at stonemarket breaks out? I remember there being more than four people in that melee.

I think this pretty much speaks for itself :)

2004-07-11 19:55:22 - T3Main
Frames: 10035 - Time: 526827ms - Avg: 19.047 - Min: 9 - Max: 55

I took that while doing the tutorial(from start to finish) at 1024x768, I usually play at 640x480 though because its too laggy otherwise.

Oh I forgot to post my system specs, I only have an Athlon 1700+XP, with 512mb of SDRAM(thats right, :P), GF4 Ti 4200, my computer seems to run at about 70% the speed of other peoples computers with the same cpu and video card combination as me(in 3dmark 2001 anyway), so I assume my mobo+ram is my bottleneck, though I intend to get a new computer soon anyway so im holding out till then.

Also, I pretty much run every other game at 1024x768 aswell, heck even Far Cry with "Very High" set for all settings I still get about 25fps(thats in the demo though, havent got the full game yet)

I have no idea what fps I'm getting but I'm running 1280x1024 with everything maxed. Might be an awful low frame rate but I honestly have not noticed any problems with lag or lazy mouse. I kept fiddling with options all the way through Far Cry as parts of the game became stuttery and I am a bit of a moaner if my game play does not feel right.

I think the slow pace of Thief means I can get away with the ( probably ) low fps I am getting. Anyway my system:

Intel P4 3.2GHz (800 fsb)
1 Gig Ram
Geforce FX5900 (128 Mb)
120 Gig SATA drive

i get around 80 running 1600x1200 resolution with no skips, load screens take about 8 seconds, running the texture pak as well as patch 1.1

my computer:

dual xeon 2.8 processors
radeon 9800xt (catalyst 4.7 drivers)
2 gigs memory
all scsi hdd and cd drives
win xp with all critical updates

while running the game i have my norton corporate antivirus edition running (doesn't seem to affect my performance, which is surprising)

i truly love my game experience, if ati were to fix the flickering lights problem on the walls, i'd be set.

Very jittery at 1024x768- with all details turned down. Even more so when they're all switched on, so i usually stick to 800x600 in the lowest detail- least thats fairly playable.

My gear:
Radeon 9600 256mb running in AGP4x slot
1gig DDR 233 Ram
P4 2.6ghz 533 FSB

Getting an X800 P.E tomorow though- hopefully that will improve the situation, otherwise i'll be demanding my money back!

By the way, how do you measure the FPS count in deadly shadows?

haha no, i just work for a nice company... one of the perks is that i get to pick out what kind of computer i get to "work" from home with...

i actually have 5 computers here, all dual xeon, two of them are servers that host my domain, 3 are clients (one is for my wife, one is for guests that come over to play games with me, and one is for my video games)

wolf, a couple of words for ya: Cable Management :D

How are those flat panels for gaming? Must be a nice company to work for. I'm still waiting for mine to retire my T20 thinkpad.

haha your right!! everytime i get around to working on that cable mess, i lay down on my back under the desk and think... what the hell am i doing? i could be playing some games right now

flat panels (other than the mac flat panels) lose some color crispness in gaming as well as most anything else, my brother is a professional photographer (www.derekpearson.com) and he's always complaining about my monitors messing up the color of his pictures... for an ameteur eye like mine... it's just fine... (it's kind of liek the debate of mp3 vs cd quality, if your an audiophile, you don't like mp3's if your not an audiophile, mp3's sound just fine)

for the ease of my eyes though, i won't go to a crt monitor... i get a headache after being on a crt for more than 10 min.. another HUGE bonus of flat panels is desktop real estate... not to mention a whole lot less heat in my study

flat panels are cheap now, i don't know what i would do if i didn't have them --- definate recomendation from me
