View Full Version : Different artists for cutscenes?

I'm sure that others have noticed and posted about this, but I can't find the posts, so I'll just say what I noticed here.

There seem to be 2 different artistic versions of Garrett in the cutscenes, and I'm figuring that they just used different artists to make the different movies.

For example, the cutscenes Gamall Revealed and Final Cutscene show a completely different Garrett than the other scenes. Gamall looks different as well.

Those two movies in particular look to have been created by the same person or group of people, as Garrett looks the same in each one. His appearance is also consistent from one scene to the next in the other set movies. The sets are just not consistent with each other.

I know that some have speculated that this was intentional, but I don't believe that to be the case since his appearance changes back and forth a few times rather than changing once and staying consistent from that point. It also seems to me that the scenes where he appears younger have an overall higher quality than the other scenes, yet they somehow feel less "Thief"-like, if that makes any sense. The first cutscene using the different art actually confused me at first, because I didn't recognize Garrett and kept wondering "now who is this guy and what is he doing?"

Does anyone know for sure what the deal is on the artwork in these movies? I'm mostly curious just for curiosity's sake, more than anything else.

All the cinemas (except the CG ones) were created by Rustmonkey, same guy who did them in Thief 1/2. I was impressed with all of them, except how Garrett looked in the final one.
