I hope Eidos members browse these forums or I'm going to look a right prat.
With all the talk of possible inclusions of a map editor on Thief 3, would any member of Eidos be prepared to stick their neck out and comment on whether or not they are exploring the possibilities of "add ons or mission packs" for Thief 3 in the near future?.
We have allready seen that with "The Sims" and look how much that made!.
I can only assume that the absence of an editor points to the above possibility, and if so why not share that fact with us so we at least have something to look forward to.
If not then Eidos are cutting their own throats, because if they included an editor not only would it show goodwill from a greatfull games manafacturer but they would also be able to have the pick of the crop of the next generation of mappers, have you seen some of the truly professional FMs for Thief and Thief2 out there?.
Come on Eidos lets have your comments, we buy, play and enjoy your games, you have our support now lets have yours.
Silence is not an option, show some spine.

I would just say that we should keep our options open. :D

 Ah ha, I knew it, met with a wall of silence that is about as subtle as a ferret up your trouser leg.
There should be a big flashing sign saying "caution ministry of disinformation at work".:D
Come on I'm not buying that, sometimes the door swings both ways instead of hitting you on the back.
I must admit though, I'm not dissapointed, I got the same embarassing silence from one of your corporates.

Erm, you do realised that most of Ion Storm Austin's (The developers) staff have been fired and they've switched to PS2 development only? This doesn't totally rule out an SDK but it does as far as anything else goes. Also, employees of such companys are usually bound my contractual silence.

:( I didn't realise that about Ion Storms developers, but this is directed mainly at the top, I'm only trying to make the point that silence only provokes annoyance, and annoyance leads to apothy.
I have no wish to offend, only to try and make sense of the rather vague answer to the editor campaign, "if sales are high enough an editor may be available in future copies"
That unsesitive type of statement rankles just a bit as who want's to pay out for the same game twice.
I am a great lover of the entire Thief series, and I personally think that the third outing is absolutly brilliant, and Eidos included a good manual which some other developers don't.
I also think that extra mission packs are a good thing, and I would certainly buy them.
So instead of vague hints about an editor, why not just say:-were not done with it yet, but when we are we will release it to the Thief community. no one expects contractual silences to be broken.
I knew I would be in for some stick with this hot potato, where are my TTLG comrades when I need them, damn taffers, see silence is golden!!:D

agreed. How much work would it be to release an SDK? in fact, just releasing the .exe of their current editor would be a start. It doesnt have to be accompanied by full documentation, just anything to help out the mod community.
