Is there any voice recognition software that will work with Thief 3 ? Just got Voice Buddy for Flight Sim 2004 and am about to install it so it made me wonder if something like this would work for Thief 3, would certainly make life easier.

You mean something like this?

Have no experience with it, but hey, it was the first thing i found in google ;)

No more fumbling with hard to remember keystrokes. The original Game Commander, released in 1998, won numerous awards for bringing the power of voice control to games including "Editor's Choice" from PC Gamer, Computer Gaming World, and CNet Gamecenter, Game Commander 2 breaks new ground with lightning fast command response and even more control over your games. Now GameCommander 3 brings in a new input the mouse, for controlling the applications.

It's not freeware btw...

Good luck ;-)

How would this possibly work?

You sit at your computer and yell, "Turn left! Turn right! Creep forward!"?

I know some people from work that have probelms getting their voice recognition software to work when they go to the bar. It's like the girls aren't running a compatible version or something...

I have used it for flight sims, "gear up", "retract flaps" etc. works well.
For thief I would imagine "crouch","creep", "map"etc. would make life a bit easier allowing you to control direction and timing in the normal way.
Will keep looking and let you know if anything comes of it. Going to check out game commander now.

It's a great idea for games like Flight Sim that have gazillions of controls, but the Thief controls are so simple all you'd really use it for is "Map" and "Goals" and maybe to switch weapons or use a potion, and there are already easy ways to do all that.

Flight sim, however, could probably bind a unique command to every single key on the keyboard, filling it all the way up and still having unbound commands left over. I have it, and they've had to resort to control-key combinations like ctrl-period for parking brakes. Voice commands could help that out a lot. But, in Thief, how are you gonna creep? Sit there repeating the word "creep" the whole time you're walking?

"creep. creep. creep. creepcreepcreepcreepcreepcreep walkwalkwalkwalkwalk creepcreepcreep walkwalkwalkwalk blackjack fire oilpotion use firearrow fire runrunrunrunrun"

All I know is, if you had a girlfriend before you installed it, you'd be single pretty soon! :D
