Hi all,
I've just replaced my trusty FX5900 with a brand new ATI x800Pro.
As some of you know, Thief 3 doesn't work correctly with the ATI drivers Cat 4.5, 4.6 and even 4.7beta (Most dynamic shadows are displayed incorrectly). Unfortunately, the x800 needs Cat 4.5 or later, there is no way to use Cat 4.4 with an x800.
So I'm stuck with a game I can't play right now.
Is there any known solution for this problem? Or do I have to wait until ATI finally gets their act together and fixes this bug?

Nope we cant fix it ourselfs so waiting for a driver release from ATI that fixes the bug is the only solution.

...actually the drivers included on the install CD are
modified 4.4's...and the game runs very nicely with them
; )
...like many, I installed the latest Catalyst 4.6 drivers when I first installed the card, only to have to uninstall them and load the drivers that came on the cd....
good luck!

Really? Do you mind posting the Catalyst and packaging version numbers? They should be on the "Options" tab.

I'am running TDS on a ATI Radeon 9600 with latest Omega drivers and everything workes fine, despite I am not very satisfied with the overall performance. Should not be a problem on your system :)
You may give them a try:

My X800 XT PE came with:
wxp-w2k-R420XT_Platinum_Edition_WHQL-14734.exe
Windows Display Driver for ATI RADEON
A) SUPPORTED ATI PRODUCTS
The software included in this package is for Microsoft Windows XP and Windows 2000. This driver may be used with ,
RADEON X800 XT Platinum Edition
This package includes,
Display Driver WXP = 6.14.10.6444
Control Panel = 6.14.10.5103
TV Capture WDM = 6.14.10.6238
odd, i wonder if your 4.4s are compatable with my X800 XT PE ? any chances of you finding a host for those drivers?

...I'd read (somewhere online) that these drivers were actually the 4.4s but altered to work with the newer (X800) series cards....
...as far as getting them to XT owners...has anybody asked ATI
product support...? I'm sorry, but I'm not sure how to get something "hosted".

no i have not tried ATi support, as for hosting the files all you need is a server on the web that has the room ... ie your ISP or some other external server ... how large is the driver file you are using?
thanks for the heads up guys, ive got an earlier driver for my 9600 and was gonna update the driver, glad i read this post.merci:)
