Well I finished the game and replayed some missions in real expert mode i.e. w out saving and loading hence not suffering from ai bug. I have a mixed feeling bout the game it surpassed it predicessor in some aspects and failed in others (by predecessor i mostly mean thief 2 because thief 1 was ruined for me by the later pagan missions where all logic disapeared from the levels.

Thief 3 is obviously superior in graphics and sound but it realy would be sad if it wasnt. I thought 3rd person view is a great addition I realy enjoy replaying in 3rd person mode, it feels so much cooler to be sneaky that way.

It also has a great story on par with the previous chapters, if anything realy bothers me is I am not quite sure what the ultimate goal of Gamail was other then just staying alive forever and killing ppl to do so (certainly enough to cut her throat but I think there is something on a larger scale that i must be missing.) Also I think they could have done a better job of drawing Garret in to the story, the Garret from previous series wasnt all that eager to hear no prophesies.

Open hub city setting is a good idea but I think poorely implemented its small and after the first few runs through it just becomes an anoyance. I normaly kill guards there now and dont even bother hiding their bodies.

Missions were well done, had nice atmosphere to them and were extremly enjoyable to play. They however dont live up in complexity of thief 2 missions, one of the problems is they are a bit small and linear another is the lack of mechanist equipment surely some things would have beeen kept around despite karras demise. Thief 2 offered a wider scope of challenges. Roofs need to come back.

Bugs: Realtivly bug free, I think they did a good job here expet for the ai problem which i am sure will be fixed. I think we actualy should be able to cope with it before the patch by changing the settings of normal difficulty but I have not tried. Everything else is not realy bugs.

I think a remake of thief 2 using the thief 3 engine would be perfection.

I think you're right about Gamall's goals (and maybe you should have added 'spoilers' in the topic heading), but the thing that made it bigger than that was the fact that she was a corrupted Keeper. Her existence showed that the Keepers themselves, who had kind of set themselves up as above everyone else, and assumed their right to manipulate others behind the scenes, were themselves subject to temptation. That's why they ended up being disbanded at the end. (And maybe there's a moral there for other secret organisations that try to influence events behind the scenes.)
