View Full Version : How well will T3 run on this spec PC?

Here are my specs:

2.1GHZ AMD Athlon 2600+
512MB DDRAM
Nvidia Geforce FX5200 128BIT/128MB DDR/405MHZ effective (ok, so it's the biggest bottleneck of my system :o ) w/ detonator 56.72 drivers (will get omega drivers)
Nvidia Nforce audio (haven't updated the drivers, will do) w/ HK satellite speakers
Windows XP "Hoe" Edition (will get a dual boot w/ Redhat Linux 9 soon, have CDs need to install them)
1GB-2GB paging file

I know my PC doesn't exactly exceed the recommended specs so I'm not going to play with full settings on, but rather medium settings. The game is demanding and needs patching, so can anyone give me some calculated idea of what sort of FPS I can get (with a bit of system tweaking to be done). I treat my PC like boot camp, so no viruses etc.

Flame suit on...

IMO you should spend the most on your video card and the least on your processor. a 1.6ghz with a better video card would run better than a 2.1 with a lower video card.

Yeah, I don't think there's a lot more we can tell you - you already know the 5200 is the weak link. My guess, based on reading most of what's been posted here by people with various configurations, is that the game will definitely be playable, but you may need to make some tradeoffs between resolution/detail and smoothness.

I think an important point is that... Ah, never mind, I'll start a separate thread for this comment! (about this game and FPS)

I've got no problem with making sacrifices in detail, however I expect to play in 800x600 or 1024x768 resolution.

IMO you should spend the most on your video card and the least on your processor. a 1.6ghz with a better video card would run better than a 2.1 with a lower video card.

Is this a general pointer for any game or just for T3? :)

Thanks for the insight people.

Oh, and as a benchmark, I play with low-medium visual settings, no preloading of skins in UT2004 and I get 60-70 fps even in action and online (sometimes 80fps), and 30fps in assault mode (well there is usually a lot going on in assault mode :D ).
