If you'd like to format your spoilers on the game forums to look something like this:
SPOILER START
------------------------------
This is a sample of formatted spoiler text. There's nothing here. It's just an example. BTW, cats are better than dogs. This is a sample of formatted spoiler text. There's nothing here. SPOILER END
but you'd rather avoid messing around with all the format codes, you might find Catman's Spoiler Tool (http://www1.iastate.edu/~wsthune/cps/spoiler.html) helpful.

After you type your spoiler in the tool's textbox, a single click adds the format codes for you, and you need only copy your spoiler and paste it in your message here at the Eidos Forums.

The tool works with Microsoft IE 6.0, Netscape 6.2, and Opera 6.03. Note that unlike IE and Netscape, Opera does not display the spoiler text when highlighted. To work around this, set your Page Style preferences as shown below, and switch between Author and User modes when viewing the thread.

A grateful nod to Salvage who posted this solution on the Thief Forums.

:D

(whispers to Catman "Exxxcccellllennnt...the sumbliminal message psycho-conversion experiment is proceeding exactly according to plan...")

Good stuff Catman. MsLedd had also posted TTLG's custom spoiler modification tool for vBulletin at the vB support forums...I was thinking about implementing them here too, but my spare time has been limited.

Whatcha think?

That would certainly be far simpler for the community. This tool can stand in until you can implement the other.

I think you should do it.

OK, the new 'Spoiler button' should be mostly active now.

You can use the button, which will do this:

MsLedd is pretty cool!

or you can manually put in a slightly different tag and get a spoiler like this:

...No kidding! MsLedd RoXz0r!!@!

The mountain has moved. Once again, cats rule the day.

I'm using bunnies to show happiness because cats are far too dignified to jump about like that.

Just testing.
Just testing this out.

Hey, thanks, Grey Mouser. This will be great when the next game comes out and I need help.

Well, since the tool is meant to be used for game hints, that should not be too much a problem. Note: everyone knows that hamsters are nearly as evil as bunnies. They, too must be stopped!

Catman, your spoiler doesn't work with the settings you show in your image for your spoiler tag, Page Fonts and Colors would have to be unchecked under User as well.

What is shown does work for MsLedd's spoiler tag(the current one).

BTW, without HTML enabled we wouldn't have been able to use your temporary spoiler tags. Moderators and Admins have HTML enabled but regular members in most of the forums here do not.
HTML code is OFF

I've put up a corrected image file with the correct boxes unchecked.

As to your second point: There are three flavors of the tool, vB Dark, vB Light, and HTML. The first two should work for anyone anywhere since they use only vB Code to achieve the effect. The third will work only on boards with HTML enabled -- even mods and admins can't get around that.

<span style='font-size:8pt; margin-left:15px; background-color:red; color:yellow; font-weight:bold; padding:2px 2px 2px 2px;'>Spoiler:</span><div style='color:midnightblue; background-color:midnightblue; margin-top:5px; margin-left:15px; margin-right:30px; padding:2px 2px 2px 2px;'>This is the HTML tool in action, but it doesn't work on forums with HTML disabled, even for mods.</div>

SPOILER START
------------------------------
This is the light version of the tool. It works because it uses only vB code.
------------------------------
SPOILER END

Of course, this is academic anyway at this point.

The other image was fine(perfect) for the current spoiler tags, but not yours.

My mistake on the mods HTML usability, but I seem to remember that admins and mods could use it anywhere, unless one of the admins turned off that option(most likely).

As you stated, academic at this point.
