yea, it scared me a lot too. then i just said to hell with it and started running all over the level. wasn't so spooky anymore. the knocking was what REALLY scared me. it sounded like a monster was coming up the stairs for me a few steps at a time. creepy......

I was wearing headphones, too. I think it makes it creepier.
Btw... small suggestion if you're wearing headphones.
TURN DOWN THE SOUND when you reach the Attic. I refuse to tell you why until after it's happened, but they made what happens WAY TOO FREAKIN' LOUD.
I understand why, because you NEED to hear what it is in detail throughout the level, even over other noises in the background... but when you first hear it, it'll be much louder than the almost complete abscene of background noise and if you have your sound turned up, you'll knock your headphones off to preserve your hearing like I did. :p
I had to reload with the sound turned down and play the rest of the level at reduced sound so that it wasn't too loud.

Seriously - This level trumps any of the previous *scary* missions i.e. RTTC. Excellent transition into the mission by speaking with Inspector Drept and the whole "gray lady" capturing the child at the orphange...! Very creepy stuff. Oh and the knocking too, that was immensely creepy b/c it starts out sounding like a ball being bounced down the stairs...then gradually gets louder - BEST MISSION EVER

This mission scares the crap outta me. Very fun and very creepy. Almost done though. I can't to and back to the world!

Yeah, i took like a 4 hour break from that game when i got to the attic stairs, but eventually i just said hell with it, and ran up there. Once that knocking is gone, its not so bad eh.

I remember one time I went into a room and heard a door open, but I didn't see any doors after investigating. At first though, I was like "Uh oh... I stand here and wait to hear footsteps or something..."

I agree with Shinra-Zer0. Best mission ever. :b:
Seriously, as much as I thoroughly did NOT enjoy the first parts, that's also part of why I *love* this mission. ;)
This mission is definately the creepiest section of the game thusfar (I'm up to the one after that) and I'd argue the creepiest mission in a video game to date (at least that I know of). The experience I previously held as holding that distinction was parts of System Shock 2 - one hell of a great creepy game. This mission actually beats it.
Kudos to Ion Storm for carrying on the torch for Looking Glass. :)

I played the level so early in the day there was a little glare coming from my window and it STILL scared the **** out of me. I'm a little lost... on the inner cradle section of the level though
