Oh no... is that true? Ion Storm is going to PS2 developement only?

"Multiple sources tell us that all is not well at Deus Ex & Thief 3 developer ION Storm. Apparently some 20 - 25 people have been laid off at the Eidos owned Austin based developer. That's not all though as Warren Spector is said to be leaving the company as well. If we receive any more details we'll be sure to post them.
Update: Other sites have confirmed with Eidos that people have been let go, though Eidos denies that Spector is going anywhere.
Update 2: More details are coming in. It looks like people leaving/being laid off is just the start of it, as the company is also changing names..and going PS2 development only."

If so, a big LOL to all Win 2000 and XP users who laughed before at the Win 98SE and WinME users. Seems it is also time for you to go with the time and get a PS2. :D

Honestly, I hate what I read there. Could we get some clarification for that regarding a Thief 4 game maybe?

If that's true, screw them. Thief 3 is my first thief game but there's no way I'd buy a PS2 over an Xbox, Halo 2 baby. Besides, companies that develop soley for a single console offend me, I typically refuse to buy their products out of principle (I occasionally do the same thing for game developers making something only on consoles).

I'm happy leaving Mario in my childhood memories, and I can't stand the look of Final Fantasy (every woman looks like a 12 year old child, jeebus). :)

Forumgoers (and everyone else too) will be happy to know that community members and Thief 3 developers Sledge, Null, and Faceless have not been let go as of this time. Let's pray that this doesn't change. Furthermore, the "PS2 only" rumor was totally bogus. Don't believe everything you read online.

1) FF games have not all been console only and most of them have PC ports....

2) There hasn't been a good FF game since FF 7... and that one sucked too... Old School FF's are the only ones worth playing because your main character isn't a pansy who looks like my sister.

3) Mario Games also have ports to PC and have multi console access... while Nintendo only makes them (since they have the rights) they are still on Gameboy, Gamecube, Nintendo 64, heck all the nintendo systems.

4) Companys that make games for ONLY one console base (excluding SONY, NINTENDO, AND SEGA) are moochers who get massive contracts from the console makers so they can start to compete with an opposing company.

Which does not mean they continue making Thief games at all. It just mean they aren't fired yet or went themself out. They can be still mobed out when Thief is not selling like expected. I have learnt in my online time that in every rumor there is a piece of truth, I continue to be wary at such developements. :D Amazingly that rumor about the PS2 only returns and returns, maybe that are internal plans which they dont dare to release and refuse to keep the customers calm. Just imagine the horror scenario for the sell statistic it would be true and stated. Maybe that is bogus at all, heaven knows. :D

And yep, I prefer the PS2 and all their consoles were they belong, in my childhood. Total agreement with Astalder. :D
