I recall someone stating that they where able to ignore the pixel shader requirement for the game Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time. What program would you use to do this? Has anyone tried with Thief 3?

There are programs out there that `emulate` the pixel shader in software, but they are very buggy, and usually need to be `rewritten` for each game as not all games use the "instructions" the same.
You'd also need a seriously SERIOUSLY powerful CPU to make up the difference in software that the HW pixel shader was doing.

The name 3d analyse comes to mind, but don't quote me on that. Since I've had a card that supports shaders for more than 2 years, I didn't really pay attention to it.

I am not aware of any cards that are fast enough to run the game but don't have any pixel shaders. I don't think you'd get good results.

Download the program: 3D-Analyze; Click here to download ! (http://www.tommti-systems.de/main-Dateien/TOOLS/dontlinkthefile_3danalyzer-v234.rar)
Open it;
Select game from directory where you installed the game;
Select: T3Main.exe;
Check boxes: force max. pixel shader version 1.1 & skip pixel shader version 1.1;
Press *RUN*;
The game should START;
Than you will see Eidos,ION-STORM,Thief3 (r) logo,NVIDIA & Sound Blaster advertising...;
Than *LOADING* will show and the game crashes,and you will return to desktop;
Enjoy this!
I like to watch those advertising very much :@*@*@*@~~~~
:eek:

Even if you use a GeForce 6800, with it's Pixel Shader 3.0 (aka Shader Model 3.0) support, you won't get anything higher than 1.1, so there is no use checking that...

we are speaking how to launch game with *poor* video cards (like geforce 2mx) ... it not supporting pixel shader at all :-\ ... we cant launch the game ... but with 3d-analyzer we can start Thief3 but when menu is incoming the game crashes and we returning to desktop ... So with better video cards there is no problem ... No need to use 3d-analyzer and disable those shader functions...
