I meet all the requirements for the system except one problem. I am running on a Dell Inspiron 8500 laptop. This problem MAY be due to that issue, but I am unsure and can use some help.
Most of the menu fonts are not displaying. Neither are the in-game book/journal fonts. This causes two problems. Not being able to read the stuff in game is obvious. But the menu problem means I don;t know where to click to change things.
For example, on the Options menu, I hear clicks when I move my mouse over a couple places, but I have no idea which one inverts my mouse. I can't stand the default! It would be great if there were a screen shot where I could see this.
Anyway, does anyone have any idea how to get the fonts to display in the menu and in game?
Thanks in advance,
Joel

This is generally a typical problem with new games when people are using old drivers for their gfx card. I suggest you go check for updated drivers for your gfx card and try Thief 3 again :)

Thanks.. that was actually the first thing I did after I saw the problem, hoping it would fix it. It did not. Any further ideas?

How about posting a screenshot of the problem so the dev team can also see it in action?

You may just want to check to see if your anti-aliasing is on, that can cause font probs. Never have seen it make them dissapear but might as well try all solutions and make sure it's off. What card you running, the 9600 mobile aye?
I'm going to try tonight on my 9700 mobile and am hoping everything is dandy.

Doh.. I read the back of the box wrong. My video card is GEFORCE 4 4200 Go. Not supported.
Man, the game appears to play perfectly with the exception of this little bug. I'm even getting decent framerate at higher resolution.
C'mon Devs.. throw me a bone here!

I had the same issue here on my desktop with a 9800 pro, then realized that I had .dxt texture support turned off on the vid card settings. Worth looking into maybe?

I have a Dell Inspiron 8500 laptop with an NVidia GeForce 4 4200 go video card. I was having the same problems as other users. The text was missing from all the menu's and from in-game books. Also the game would crash after 5 minutes of play.
I installed a new set of drivers and now the game works beautifully! I assume that the same should work for most of you guys considering that you are having the same problems with the same laptop.
So here's the scoop. Go to http://www.laptopvideo2go.com and download the 61.12 driver and inf file. Follow the instructions on the site for driver installation and all your problems (hopefully!) should be resolved.
Can't promise that this driver won't screw up other things though so buyer beware, although so far I have had no problems other than standby mode freezes up (well documented problem on the site)
Good luck
Franko
btw its a great game!!

EDIT: Problem solved!! The A.I. patch was the problem. If I don't use it, everything works fine. This should be investigated, since others have posted the same problem.
I've got this problem and occurs with all text on menus, loading screens, credits screen, etc. They displayed fine with the demo.

One final problem and unrelated....all enemy characters are standing with their arms out to their sides and not initialized. I can usually walk up to them and beat them silly, though they never move.
