DX Movie...happening or not?

For a while I was seeing some buzz about a Deus Ex Movie (on websites and on this forum), but is Columbia still doing the project? I haven't seen any news on it since March 10 (http://xbox.ign.com/articles/388/388701p1.html?fromint=1) and it seems like a big company such as that would provide info more often than that. Also, there doesn't seem to be even an approximate release date. Does anyone know anything more recent?

You know, Deus Ex in my opinion is one of the best RPG's ever made. It has already been awarded game of the year. So if they made it into a movie, it would probably be a bigtime hit. I'm talking lots of cash for the producers, not to mention a great advertising ploy for DX2 and maybe DX3, when ever they release it.

How did DX2 sell? Maybe low DX2 sales convinced them that the fanbase for the movie just wasn't there. But I think that with good special effects a DX movie would be awesome (and popular).

Hahahahaha! That's funny, yeah sadly though it probably will.

Anyway, I don't think that movie was ever in production to begin with. I think this Gregg Pruss just decided to try and write a screenplay in his basement during his time off from his 9-5 pencil pushing job...anyway...I didn't think anything was gonna happen with this unless someone with a little more creditials steps in (No offesne Pruss :P)

The movie would have probably been better off as an animation anyway...3D, Cel, or even a combination. Production IG would have done a wonderful job IMO.

You know, I've been thinking about a DX movie for quite a while now....and frankly I hope it never gets done. It would only do a disservice to a great game, everyone knows how Hollywood works. Far too much of what made it a great story would be sacrificed for no good reason.

I suspect that a big budget miniseries (a la Band of Brothers, Dune, etc) would be a lot better.

A TV series of several seasons is more fitting for Deus EX.

100% agree with the tv series if anything point mad there. The things we love about Deus ex is the depth, locations and characters, the little conversations with nobodies and so on. A lot of this was going to get cut if you read the interview with the writer, he said he had cut it down into 4 main characters, it would be serious cack if that happened. I just think they should leave it alone, it's a game not a movie if people want to find out about the story play the game.
