Stuck again! Ambush!

Hi anyone?
I could use a little help in jumping/climbing in a window at Garrett's house. I've tried crouching and it doesn't seem to work. I'm not 'ALICE' and can't drink a potion to make me shrink anymore....Please help! Thanks

Which window? If it is the one on the back balcony, you should have little trouble.

Try a LEAN into the window at a slight angle, then step through. Don't try to jump through.

LOL...well, well...you finally got into Thief! Blackie...do you recognize the name of the player?

Did Blackman's tip help? Some windows/cave holes are somewhat finickie to get through so you'll just have to try various means to see which one will work. Sometimes when mantling/getting over an object...some call for crouch, some call for a standup approach. Some you can use walk with jump others run with jump. They say use jump key to mantle but I always found that if I use one of the movement keys with it, it will get me up and over and onto the object and not fall back cause I'm not over far enough on it or something similar. Just be sure to listen for his sound when you know your succesfull and let go the keys right away so you don't go clear over the other side, like on a beam for example. As you go through the game you'll get more familar with how it works of course..so just kindof experiment but be sure to save first so incase you mess up you can recover as usual :)

Multi-key movements to squeeze through various places in the game are always finicky as Huntress said, good choice of words. I'e always felt the hardest of these moves is in The Haunted Cathedral, which oddly enough I just played before coming to the forum for a look. The hideout above the bridge near the grotto where you must squeeze through a rectangualr opening from a rope arrow, has always given me trouble. You must just experiment with various combinations of run/lean/crouch, both stationary and at speed, to get through some of these difficulties.

IIRC the middle window is the tricky one - the top one is relatively easy.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm sure they will continue to come in handy for future thieving! I'm now in 'Trace the Courier' which I find extremely difficult, as I can't seem to time it right to let the guard pass first. I've been trying to use my Orb...but still get caught!
