hylden trap????

so what exactly was the hylden trap kain says they walked right into at the end of sr2? did we ever get an answer to that?

Raz spared Kain who in turn saved Raz from being absorbed into the Reaver. Raziel was determined to revive Janos using the heart of darkness, but as Kain said, "My god, the Hylden. We fell fight into their trap. Raziel, Janos must stay dead." All those three sentences are refering to the same thing. The trap was that because Janos does not stay dead, the Hylden Lord is able to possess Janos and have him open the hylden gate.

but why would that have so much of an effect on him? he did prevail in the end after all... unless something happens later on that causes some more damage than the events of BO2...
