with defiance out ive benn thinking whether lok is turning into another TR(TOMB RAIDER) with the first installment it got rave reviews just like TR but with each game it takes a step backward just like TR.
the game is getting shorter and more linear, the enemies weaker, the puzzles easier.

any1 notice a resemblance????

It's true LoK has improved in graphical as in combat matters with every part. Combat is with no doubt best in Defiance, but when it comes to exploring and secrets that are of no importance for the plot nothing beats BO1. The bosses were good in both BO1 and SR1. The ones in Defiance are okay. Same goes for puzzles in Def.
I actually can't remember any in BO1 except pulling levers and shoving stones around. Think the best puzzles were in SR2 (The only thing that has improved in the game except the graphics).
The plot is great in each part, as well as the attention to detail I greatly admire; but I think Nosgothian has a point when he says that gameplay has been afflicted with at least a bit of non-observance at the same time.

thats exactly what i mean despite the fact that most people follow lok for the plot its still a game and thus should be treated as one.
so when u scrutinize it do as though its a game and not a story

Quit being a pessimist Nosgothian. LoK isn't going to become TR because TR remains pretty much the same through the whole series. LoK has plot, combat, EASIER to line up jumps, easier controls, AND vampires. And in my opinion Defiance is in the top 3 of the LoK series. The only thing that worries me is Amy being gone now and the series MAY suffer. But I would think that Amy would put LoK in the hands of people who will do a great job.

TR1 is still among my fav games ever made. It ranks higher then any LOK game on my list (even higher than SR1)

Tr2 was OK. It was a good sequel but after the first level I kinda lost interest. There weren't enough TOMBS being raided!

I never bothered with any later TR games. I think I've played all of them at some time or another and didn't notice any advancement at all in the series. The PS2 one was simply terrible and didn't even deserve the name on it!

With LOK I never enjoyed BO1. SR1 is one of my fav games ever. SR2 onwards dissapointed me. While BO2 was a decent length there was VERY little else it had going for it. SR2 and defiance were simply too short and linear and Defiance had THAT camera.

I suppose LOK is in decline. It's getting a little wound up in its own mythology now to last much longer. I'm sure even the hardcore fans are all gonna loose interest unless something big happens (like an SR1/BO1 remake on an improved defiance engine using the SR2 camera) in the series. LOK should have ended with SR1s original ending IMO

Fneh's final thought: I totally agree about both games being in a similar decline but think that LOK made HUGE improvements between BO and SR. I guess both games started their decline from the third installment eh?
I am actually looking forward to the CD TR game though. I believe it could really bring TR back out of the gutter.

OT: This is probably going to be my last visit here for a while. I'm too busy with uni to have the time to come here anymore (as well as an ever increasing dislike of any LOK game after SR1). (I didn't even get time to enter the art competition:() TTFN

I am a massive LOK and TR fan I was into TR for a long time before i started on LOK. One of the reasons i got into LOK was i saw my mate oplaying SR2 and i was like 'Hey that's a lot like TR! can i have a go?' and she lent me SR1 and i've been hooked ever since.

All the games have good and bad points you can't really pit one TR game against another as they are all different (TR3 sucks lol) i love the others though.

LOK all the games are good and if the graphics for BO were as good as Defiance it would probably be my fave *shrugs* i love all the games for different reasons. I don't think you can generalise them really as they all differ in gameplay there will always be people who love a game while others hate it (BO2 a good example)

But hey that's just my opinion! :D

LOK kain is the greatest

But TR can not compare with LOK. TR was getting stale cause i mean really how much can you do with a bird who jumps around ledges and looks for lost items. they have looked for so many. and the only thing that changes is the object at the end. ( Even my mate just relised this) but now that CD is making them perhaps it will become interesting. (one can only hope.)

I like TR (except for AOD which I didn't play because I heard it was very buggy). TR is a decent series (and #3 is my favorite, by the way:) ) but LOK is just so much better. TR4 was long and drawn out and TR5 was a mishmash attempt to prolong the series. All of the LOK games fit together and don't seem at all forced, which is why I love them so much. The only thing I like better about TR is the saving system. I like being able to save anywhere and load at the exact location where I saved. It took a lot of the frustration out of jumping puzzles. I'm very eager to see Crystal's attempt to fix the series.

HI

I'm new to this but to reply to the post about LOK series being like TR. In a way it is but i think that the storyline combine with the gameplay makes it a whole lot more intriguing than TR. Therefore i think LOK is taking a step forward not backward.
