I think I can call myself a big DX fan, but what does JC stands for. In DX 1 they never say it, in DX IW they never say it.But I have a little theory about the name JC. ( even if it means something else then what i think it is; it could correct what I say)

Yesterday I was watching sister act on TV :D and somewhere in the movie they say "the big JC"; I thought the big JC?????? my dad said Maby they mean Jesus Christ. I started thinking. Deus ex = a god that comes from the sky and gives a sollution to something. So maby JC stands for Jesus Christ.
I know it sounds a bit weird but it is just something i thought about.

That's the general assumption, I believe.

I'd say it's Jesus Christ. Think about it, if you kill the prisoners in UNATCO HQ before Walton Simons interrogates them, he says: "Jesus Christ, Denton!" and if you kill Anna Navarre in the plane, Alex says: "Jesus, JC! That was..." Of course that means nothing... But still... Oh, forget about it, just something that popped into my mind.

Uh...that's like old news and that's the whole point of the game really.

Deus Ex...from Deus Ex Machina "God from a machine". The whole point is for humanity to one day become God's, not by some miracle or fountain of youth or something but through our own creations...machines/computers.

To put ones essence and their consciouss into a global network and you're pretty much immortal. I'm not going to say anything else or it might be considered spoilers :P

Jesus Christ makes sence. Remember in the intro the guy,who were talking to SW,about plague etk.,he mentioned about some city, and about being it kings.... no,more than that-Gods. So,JC is corporation creation, child of theirs in some way,son of God/s,so is Jesus christ.

Makes perfect sence for me.

All those years. I played Deux Ex about... many years ago, I may have known what "J.C" meant then, but i forgot quickly.

All those years, and now I remember and I also never thought of it that way - Jesus Christ, a child of God- it all makes sense too!

This thread is uber cool. ;) :D

I think we will never know what it stands for. That's not bad, many questions are unsolved.

Well, actually, it does mean Jesus Chist.

(this thread is a recurring topic on this forum)

in an early version of the game script, JC was supposed to be cloned from the ADN of the christ... the story disappeard, but the name stayed.

(I'll try to find the old topics on this subject)

The whole thing with Aquinas (assuming he means Thomas Aquinas, big smarty theology guy from the middle ages) and the city on the hill (Armageddon, mentioned in the Book of Revelation in the Bible), Jesus Christ, in the form of a lamb saved the 144,000 chosen people (or something close to that). And JC was a savior of the human race, so Jesus Christ may be correct.

I think that this questions can be answered, but only if Ion storm says what it means, if they have thouhgt out a name for him though. No matter how senseable a thing look, it doesnt make it right.
I disslike as........(I made thoughs dotts) that I aint JC Denton in iw. I want to be him. Not some dude called whit an other name. I think that the story should have continued you as JC Denton as the super human he becomes when i merges whit helios and stuff.

There are many allusions to a divinity in Deus Ex.
It is highly likely that JC stands for 'Jesus Christ'.
There is an overwhelming amount of evidence pointing to this conclusion.
For example, There is a theme of Divinity when you merge with Helios...
Helios being some kind of 'God' of technology. A machine overseeing all communication, a sentient watcher.
As well as the fact that JC is a creation being of technology in the image of a human ( to an extent. ) A medium between machine and man. Jesus, being divine yet of human form.
JC and Helios in their merged state have also been noted as a 'Holy Trinity' which is further backed up by the fact JC mentions something about leading humanity into the light. Which is pretty much what the bible says Jesus is there for.
And you can't deny the end quote if you go with Helios.

JC is also a creation of those who thought themselves to be Gods. Walton Simons and in particular, Bob Page.
He was meant to be a tool to convert the people ( by force )
Which is almost a similar relationship of God to Jesus to People.

The evidence is overwhelming.
Though it is deliberately left up to your own decision.
No one is officially going to declare that JC stands for Jesus Christ.
It is a little theme running through the game to make you think, naming him Jesus Christ officially would be absurd. Because he is not Jesus.
But the parallel is there to be explored. JC is somewhat of a saviour of man.
I am not a religeous person. But JC in his final state of Apotheosis ( Helios ) is somewhat of a God to the human race in that state.
The recurring theme of Divinity runs right through the game.
