View Full Version : How should T: DS end?

I was thinking that Garrett should end his thieving career in this the third installment.
However, the Thief franchise could remain open for continuing sequels
So, for the ending I thought:
.................................
Garrett should 'die'. Then as part of the final cutscene, the Keepers review the remains of what is left of him, say nice and perhaps not so nice things of him and walk away.
At the very end, though something catches your eye, hinting at the possibility that Garrett is not dead, that this time he has evaded his most formidable foes, the Keepers, and has managed to vanish...
It is time for the Keepers to look for a new acolyte, then...

I don't know how it starts yet! Who knows what twists await us? :D

Ekeko, I like your idea....but only on the condition that Garrett is not really dead....splutter, choke....NO way!
Garrett has a hidden magic reserved for a special purpose, not yet fully understood by himself, which means he cannot die.
A great opening for a new acolyte though, as you suggest, a female lead this time with her own special skills could be interesting.....
.....and then for a future game, both Garrett and her can unite in a new epic tale!

Or maybe some thief vs thief, where you'd have to out-taff Garrett? :D

As I remember, Garrett was a homeless street bum before the Keepers Brought him under their wings. So I think it should end with Garrett Finding out he is an offspring of the trickster, that or of the Hammerites. Something that associates him with his enemies.

Hmm...It may also be explained why Garrett could see the keeper standing when others coudn't. I've been wondering about that for quite some time.

I just thought about something for the ending: I don't want it to be like the last two. Yes, the ending to The Dark Project was appropriate, and no matter how boring Soulforge was, it made sense in terms of story. But seriously. If this is to be Garrett's last horrah (though it might not be) then I want a damn cool finishing level. Like, having to escape from a burning cathedral, with debris falling all around you, while you presue the main baddie. I don't want it to end up like this:
Garrett: "Now I have to sneak into the Keeper library, burn the evil books in the fireplace, and sneak out. Then I win."
Give us a damn cool finish, one that stays true to the Thief legacy and the character of Garrett, but one that would burn into your memory for years and years. One that when you look back, you'll say, "That was a damn cool finish."
I always have thought that Garrett should die or disappear to a nice retirement spot.

No, no!....like I have already said, Garrett cannot die so forget any endings on that scenario.
He could 'change', but no way should he 'die'.

If Garrett did die, would he turn into a zombie who picks your pocket? :D

I've always thoguht he should disapear into the shadows where he can continue his looting. In both games he was a rather reluctant hero, so I think he'd most want to get back to just being a thief.

I figure it'll begin right where T2 left off .. "tell me more." He'll probably learn about another prophecy, perhaps involving him personally, and have to work to either stop it or make sure it happens. I imagine it'll be the former...since I've heard in previews about a coming dark age.

Just think of it as permanent retirement.

*chuckles*
"Early in the 21st Century, the Tyrell Corporation advance Robot evolution int the Nexus phase-a being virtually identical to a human-known as a Replicant.
"The Nexus 6 Replicants were superior in strength and agility, adn at leaset equal in intelligence, to the genetic engineers that created them.
"Replicants were used Off-world as slave labor, in the hazardous exploration an colonization of other planets.
"After a bloody mutiny bay a Nexus 6 combat team in an Off-world colony, Replicants were declared illegal on earth-under penalty of death.
"Special police squads-Blade Runner Units-had orders to shoot to kill, upon detection, any trespassing replicant.
"This was not called execution.
"It was called retirement."
- Introduction to the movie "Blade Runner"
Heheheh, sorry, but that statement about permanent retirement reminded me of that. Personally, I think that if this was to be the last game, then Garret should either die or retire from the thieving trade. I'd hate to think that he was still out there having adventures I, that is we, weren't privvy to.
If it's not the end of the series, however, then I'd hate to see a character change. What about this? Garret would continue to be a thief, but there would be another character who became his partner or something. That would open up the possiblities of playing the game from two different perspectives, taking two different paths, and having multiple endings!
P.S. Oh, and thinking about that "Blade Runner" movie intro, I was just thinking. That part where they say they were superior in strength and agility....to the genetic engineers that created them? Well just how strong and agile do you have to be to best a pasty-faced lab jockey, heheheh.

It would stink if this was the last game and Garret continued his adventures as a thief. There should be some climax or conclusion to the whole shabang! Imagine if it ended with Garret still being a thief...Oy it reminds me of the ending of Conan: The Destroyer (2). Of course Conan becomes king of his own kingdom but the very last quote from the narrator is "But that is another story" (Q Music) ahhahaha And they haven't made another Conan since like what 85 was it? I want another Conan dang it!
Oyyyy I hope Garret becomes a god!

I think you should find out that he and Viktoria had an illegitimate child, and he should turn into a ninja with a guitar and stand on a hill wailing and being Totally Sweet (http://www.realultimatepower.net) and then rob all the pirates until they explode!!!
er.. I mean.. End? I only want it to end if it's the best Thief ever! If it comes out and does a DX:IW, I want another chance at a good sequel!
