TRLR is the most difficult when playing it for the first (and probably the second) time, but when you know what way to go, it's fairly easy. I still think TRI is the hardest ... and the creepiest; for that matter. :D

TR3, in my opinoin, was the hardest. After that I honed my TR skills.
TR3 was more difficult than the others, from the ones i've played...
i haven't played TR4 yet... i will probably.
(a shame actually - now i allready know the ending!)

LOL!!! Finally a poll that I am not wishy-washy about...
3 all the way baby!
My best friend and I have been playing this game (for the first time) since it came out (in bits and pieces, gladly leaving it for newer games as they came out) and still haven't finished the London levels. We are both at Lud's gate - but I am just not very motivated to play this game.
My friend says this is because its the hardest - but I think it's mostly because it is so Tomb-less. The environments just aren't as interesting to me. We were cruising along until we hit London and then came to a grinding halt.

I think TRLR was the hardest... it was pretty long and all that going back and forth between levels confused me! I got stuck quite a few times while playing that game!:D

TRLR is hard too - would be 2nd place for me after 3 tho.

I have to agree with everyone else who said TRIII. It seemed to me that all the moves were harder to make (jumps had to be just right etc.) Other than that, I really don't know..... I just remember feeling really tired after playing it even for a short time. It was draining. I will, however, go so far as to say that I thought Willard was pretty easy to beat. I had read so many things by different people about how hard he was to beat, when I got to that part(getting there was the hard part to me; not enough save crystals ;) ) he really wasn't that tough, IMO. (Don't ask me how many times Lara died climbing out of the cavern....Can we all say screaming, bone crunching death?)

TR3 definitely had to be the hardest one for me. The sprint meter, unlike in the fourth and fifth installments, wouldn't go back up. And getting used to the new side-stepping controls was a pain. Also, need I say, "Annoying save-game crystals"?? I think not :D

It seems that in 3 there is also very often only one option for getting through a level. In 2, I found that many times, I could do things in a different order and it all turned out ok.

TR-5, Chronicles has turned out to be the hardest, at least on my PC. I have all 36 Gold Roses and 1/2 of the final the exit key, but have yet to trap the second cyborg in the gas room in order to get his half of the exit key. Also took me four days (my time) to get through the Shooting Gallery, and a week to learn how to get enough elevation on The Pit rope swing. :( Swinging was a snap in TR-4, Last Revelation.

tr3 no doubt, i haven't played it again and i don't want to...i just can't seem to find the logic of the puzzles...and the zones are huge...just thinking about those mine carts..geez
about the last revelation, i didn't think it was that hard...but i agree that the Alexandria zone was confusing :(

I found TRLR the hardest BY FAR!!!
It was a huge game and so open.
You could travel back and forth between levels and get sooo lost and confused.
I really prefer the closed level approach and as a result I found TRLR the weakest in the series.
I hope AOD doesn't take the TRLR approach.

i was just playing tr1 at my friends house and i forgot about that there are a lot of very hard levels in that game too!! so now id have to say tr4 and tr1 are the hardest.

Tomb Raider Chronicles...
The game may have been short but when it comes to Story 3 and 4 (ireland and von croy industries) they werent so easy.
In ireland you had no weapons what so ever and well the werewolves and skeletons attacking you were not so pleasent.
In Voncroy Industries the Judge dred Mobile Refrigerators were hard especially with the close range laser. another thing is hard was red Alert...helicopters...bad camera angles..and androids are not my idea of fun.
But thats just my opinion..i havent really played TRLR so i dunno how hard it is. TR3 was hard to..

I think Tomb Raider 3 was the hardest. Having them played one after another it was the first where you had to monkey climb the ceiling. I always missed the spots. And then there are in most levels different ways to complete them. But if you follow one you have to go through with it. I was also stuck in London for quiete a while. The only easy thing was the "spider" you just had to find the correct pattern. ;-)
I fount TR4 much easier. I was only confused in the Karnak levels, and I had trouble getting out of the last level, because I was so scared of Seth.

Are the PC versions of the games different from the PSone versions? I don't recall any werewolves or skeletons attacking on the island in Ireland...I before when folks were talking about the assault course that it was different. For instance, on PS version, you can't save your best times and there is NO way you can finish it as quickly as folks were quoting for their PC's...
Just curious

I think TR3 was the hardest... Invisible platforms between broken bridges, having to do things in the right order or not get them right at all, freezing to death in the water, a mean boss at the end of each part (except for the Nevada levels), huge environments, strange puzzles, hard jumps, that incredible last secret, I mean, can you find it without a walkthrough?......... TRLR was, in comparison, fairly easy, at least if you don't think of the horrid underwater labyrinth and a couple of other things. TR2 I completed without almost never looking at a walkthrough and if I ever did it was only because I was a bit tired. TR1, I'm playing now - its major difficulty consists of the bad graphics and the fact that although I have the music and the wind and things like that, I get no gunfire sound, Lara's steps, ah-ahs or anything. Chronicles was neither too easy nor too hard apart from the simultaneously interesting and annoying target practice in the VCI levels.

This is my first time on this forum!!!
I have to say TR 3 and TR 4, TR3 was due to sitting and looking at the screen and going ''eh?''
Then TR 4 was just a brain ache, have not reached the end was too hurt in my head...
I found London the hardest to crack and South Pacific annoying when you did n't make the jump.

welcome to the forum Dark Lara..
Anyway.. I would have to say TR 3 was the toughest for me.
I hated the India levels!

The India levels were good! I was faster on them then any other.
Though I hated the bit where you had to jump from the platform in the London one to reach the paint hanger thing (god I'm really not thinking).
No I just got so stuck in 4 I got borred and it didn't feel tomb raider enough for me.
I like the look of the new one quite cool!!I hope she has some mean bike!!!

TR III was definitely the hardest one for me, especially Willard! I had the worst time beating him, it wasn't even funny. The London levels were tough, too. And I don't think I've ever experienced anything more creepy than the mines!
The only other one that comes close was the last story in "Chronicles," but I had a much easier time with the killer cyborgs than I did with ol' Willard.

Actually it's really hard for me to say, TRLR & TRC were extremely easy in my opinion. They were way to linear. I don't know, maybe i tought they were easier because i got better at TR after playing all the games. So if I say TRIII was the hardest it's maybe because I wasn't as good as now at TR.

TombRaider 3 , and TR4, both, because they have real bad situations... Most memorable place here really the huge room that opens in the level befor Poseidon's Temple, I have only once ever managed to swing from rope to rope... my way out of it was to level skip and then just go down the stairs - hey presto, you're on the floor!:D
Tombraider3 is still the most labyrinthic game... I still find alternative routes after playing it since it came out!
delicious... that makes it worth spending the money...

Tr1 - I didn't really like that game at all. It was too dark, and the enemies did nothing but piss me off.
Tr2 - I liked it right up until the part where you go back to China.. It just got too dark and creepy for me.
Tr3 - Great game. I loved it.
Tr4 - The hardest of them all, I think.
Tr5 - I beat it in a week.

TRLR is not so much hard as it is deep and longwinded...The jumping back and forth between levels takes up quite a bit of time and so do the puzzles. But once you know what to do, you can get through that game relatively quickly. ;)

I suggest you let good old Stella (www.tombraiders.net/stella) take you by the hand and lead you through the filthy city... best rent someone who reads out the steps while you pop medipacks and cheat for save crystals... I feel for you... I only finished the antarctic mine level after having the game for three (!) years... ;)

TOMB RAIDER 2!!!!!
I hated that one!! It was the only TR game where I died repeatedly because of the fights. I never even completed it. After
Last Revelation was tough because of the puzzles, but I didn't die too often, and I rarely needed to look at any hints (unlike in TR3.)

The last Tomb Raider Game TRC is the only one that I have not been able to do without using any aid kits.
And I would guess that it is impossible, but I won't say for sure.
By the time I tried to do it I was kind of burned out and didn't pursue it with the same zeal I did with the others.
But I would have to say that TRC is the hardest from my standpoint.

It was TR4 for me. I had to use the walkthrough book most of the way but i think the only reason it seemed harder and longer is because there is no change of scenery. I found TR3 quite easy compared but once u done that once you can do it loads of times but i always forget how to do bits of TR4.

TR3. When to use a save crystal and when not to use a save crystal was the hardest part. Most of the hard parts were LETHAL as opposed to a nusance. If you didn't get Lara past an obstacle the first time, she died and you has to start back from where you last saved which wasn't necessarily where you picked up the last crystal, at least it wasn't for me. I didn't actually begin to enjoy TR3 until I found a cheat that allowed me to get 50 crystals at a time.

TR1 - Definitely the hardest one but also the greatest TR IMO
TR2 - Love it, but quite easy
TR3 - Bit harder than TR2
TR4 - After TR1 the catchiest
TR5 - Easiest (But the VCI Levels drove me crazy *wuah*)

TR1-- Probably the easiest, but since it was new, it felt tough (we still had to learn the moves and such.)
TR2-- Ughh... Wouldn't have been too hard, but those fights! Suddenly I needed to shoot everything three times more than in TR1... and there were a lot more enemies. This is the only TR game where I died repeatedly as a result of fights. Not good. Gets my vote as the hardest.
TR3-- Better fights than TR2, but too many death traps that struck without warning. Also, the maps were a little TOO big at times.
TR4-- Fights were easier than before, but tougher puzzles and a HUGE game world made this one pretty challenging
TR5- Almost as easy as TR1. Easy fights, small maps, few levels. Only some parts of VCI posed any real challenge.
