View Full Version : Not enough free space?

I've just received and installed the UK DVD version of this game. When I first try to run it I can set up my options but when I try to begin a new game I get this message:

"You do not have enough free space to begin a new game."

This PC is a Shuttle XP2800+, 1024MB RAM, 120GB HD (partitioned C and D with 25 GB free on C: where the game is installed), ATI 9200 so how do I get around this issue?

Additionally, I downloaded the 1.2 update but all I get is a black screen now (unless I Alt-tab or Ctrl-Alt-Del which forces the game to run).

Also, I too thought that this was a CD and not a DVD. In order to install it I had to scavenge a DVD reader from another PC - but I need to replace it and put back my CD-RW. Why does the game insist on the DVD being present in order to run?

All in all, as a previously happy Eidos customer I am beginning to feel a bit disenchanted.

Thanks

john

OK, replying to self ...

Just had a look at this post http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34846 and the suggestion that the "My Documents" folder had enough space struck a chord.

My machine is part of a Windows domain with the My Documents folder redirected to a UNC share. Could this be the problem?

If so, is there a work-around?

Well, one thing here is that the 1.2 patch broke your version of the game. You need to uninstall and reinstall.

As for fixing the My Documents problem, there's no good answer. The best I can come up with is to reset My Documents to the Windows default (so the game will work) and then create a new inside that redirects to the UNC share.
