I live in the UK and when DE:IW came out in the USA in December and the UK release was delayed, i couldn't wait, so i bought a USA copy. However i had a few problems with it generally being buggy - it ran fine, just with a few annoying glitches. The 1.1 patch seemed to fix most of the problems, and now with the 1.2 patch it runs even better.
When the UK version came out last Friday, i ordered a copy (£17.99 on play.com, pretty good) thinking that if they have spent an extra 3 months on it, the new version should be much improved. However at first glance it appears to be no different - i installed the game from scratch (after uninstalling the USA version and removing all files) and when running it saw '1.2' in the corner. So it just seems to be the USA version with the 1.2 patch built in... not really worth waiting 3 months for is it?
However, there must be some difference somewhere as i kept looking and saw that the USA installation size is 1.8gb on hard drive, the UK version is 2.89gb.
On the UK DVD, there is 2.22gb taken up, whereas the USA version is 2 CDs, making about 1.3gb total.
So whats taking up the extra space? i think i heard mention that the UK version has higher res textures. is that right?
I don't want to keep both versions... thats pointless, so i'm going to put a copy up on eBay. But i have to decide which copy would be better to keep.
