Hail,

I recently got LOK: D but after installing the game and then installing the patch 1.1 neither one of my two game controllers work properly for some reason. Also, they wont work for Soul Reaver 2 PC either. The two controllers I have installed are:

Microsoft Sidewinder Plug & Play Game Pad
and
Saitek P880 Dual Analog/Digital

I go into the setup area for controllers, but when I try to make forward, back, left, right as one of the direction pads it doesnt do anything. I can make the regular buttons for use, but not the direction pads. So, playing this game SUCKS when trying to use the keybaord and mouse. I fall all the time and keep dying because of this.

So, I have completely uninstalled the game untill I get some kind of fix. My PC is up to date, and the drivers are installed for both controllers. I have tryed this "compatibility mode" in the setup...but I have no "compatibility mode" in that setup available.
All my emulators and other PC games work fine with the controllers.

Assistance would be GREAT!!

AMD Athlon XP 1.3
Win XP SP 1 and Updates.
DX 9.0b
GeForce 4 440 MX

I use a Saitek P880 as well. Best controller ever made, IMO. ;) Anyway, to get the D-pad to work, you need to make sure the controller is in "Digital" mode. Look at the button in the middle of the controller; the red LED should be lit. If it isn't, just press the button. When the pad is in "analog" mode (LED off), the left joystick is used for directionals.

BTW, you don't have to "map" the directionals to the controller. If the game is set for "Gamepad + Keyboard", the pad is automatically set for directionals.

It is a great controller. The problem is, I dont recall having a setting option for Keyboard+Gamepad in the settings for LOKD. I think I might have assumed that it ment you had to use the gamepad to move and the keyboard for punch, jump and all that....thats not a setting id want to play under. lol. I guess I was wrong.

Thanx....ill reinstall the game now and see if this works.

The controller option screen should look similar to this: Defiance Control Options (http://www.angelfire.com/electronic2/fixer/lok/def_control_option.jpg)

Well, I reinstalled the game and then installed the patch and then went to options and found the Gamepad+Keybaord option and mapped out the buttons on the Gamepad and now it works fine.

So, thanx for your help.

My problem now is that when you start in Razales first chapter....its confusing to tell whats a wall and whats a gap because of the graphical effects on everything everywhere...kinda makes it hard to see where to jump....so, I keep falling, and falling,ohh...and falling because I cant hardley tell where to jump. ANNOYING. They should have layed off the effects a bit in the part where you have to race from the white mist. Ive died 30 times trying to get to the top now....and this game JUSt started. My graphics and effects are turned all the way up and everything runs fine, but they really should have made that part eaiser to see.
