I spent my 30-60 minutes searching the forum, but to no avail, so I am posting this.
I have a newly bought ATI Radeon 9600 (supported graphics card: check) on a Windows XP Pro SP 1 system (supported OS: check), using DirectX 9.0b (supported version of DirectX: check). I even got the new 4.2 Catalyst drivers (supported drivers: check), since the card came with 3.8 drivers.
When I start the game, I am presented with the most horrible sight known to mankind... the cursor does loads, but the menu doesn't, and all I have is a red/black strobe effect.
The menu still responds to clicks, as I have managed to click through and start the game at one point, but that is no better - it's all black.
This is seriously impeding my game play... has anyone else experienced this problem? Do you have the faintest clue what is going on?
All I got out of trying to get it to work is a wicked strobe-enduced headache.
