I was just curious to see how many of you would like to see a System Shock total conversion on Deus Ex :IW.
My brother and I (and a few friends) are debating doing a mod on it to make it into what would effectively be SS3.
Well, vote and let me know in words too.

The guys who made SS now work for Ion Storm. Hrm, maybe there will be an official System Shock 3...

How would you go about making a mod?

Since its running on the unreal warfare engine, I would use UnrealEd, and do some coding. Thats how you make a mod.
And System shock is a fps/rpg. SS2 was released in 1999 using the dark engine. It has been updated as much as possible but its time for a new game.
you can't mod DX2 using unrealEd, trust me on this one

Do a google search on System Shock 2 Review and you'll find hundreds with basically all the same general impressions.
Where to get System Shock 2, well ebay and it still sells for about $30 in the original box with shipping. I paid $29.99 back in 1998 or 1999 when it came out. Here is one that sold for $41 including shipping with a XP Patch included: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3075284893&category=11047
A couple of nice mods are out to enhance the textures of data displays and NPCs.
Another site with stuff: http://www.sshock2.com

It's also free and completely legal to download online.

As Nightshade says, it's illegal to download SS2.

The Underdogs site is an abandonware site. Abandonware (unless stated directly by the copyright holder(s)) is still illegal. Though it is passably allowed by a good number of companies because of the dropped nature of a game or the difficulty in trying to acquire it given age or lack of support.

You can not mod DXIW period. Ion Storm has not and according to Warren, they never will release an editor for DXIW. This is a real shame because the DeusEx community would gladly write mods for it. Now that Thief 3 is also running on the DeusEx 2 engine, another fine game has had its life shortened considerably.

Perhaps a Thief 3 editor will be functional with DS:IW as well. Thief does have a modding community so I understand. It may come to pass that someone creates a fan made editor or perhaps Eidos may actually release an editor for it.
