Hey all, first post - great to be here, reget it being a technical question regarding a problem I'm having (or maybe the game is just at fault).
I have a high end system - the following are my specifications.
AMD Athlon 64 FX
ASUS SK8N (1.0.0.4 BIOS)
1 GB Corsair 3200 XMS (Registered & ECC)
Sapphire Radeon 9800 XT 256MB (with latest 4.1 Catalyst drivers)
WD 120 GB HD
Thermaltake Xaser III w/Venus 12 and Nanotherm PCM
Not intending to flout my new acquisition, but the specs are needed to address the problem I'm having (or maybe again, the game is at fault). I run Deus Ex 2 with the lastest 1.1 patch, on 1280 X 1024, 2X AA, max details, Overdrive enabled, 8X AGP enabled, VPU Recover enabled, and the game runs moderately choppy (around 30-35 FPS) in small environments. In large environments, it struggles (around 20 or lower FPS) - it begs the video card to let out every last drop of energy, and sometimes, when the card doesn't let up, I get a crash to desktop. Anyone know why such a high end PC runs Deus Ex 2 (on max settings) at such an unsatisfactory level? A friend of mine with a 3000 XP & a Radeon 9800 Pro (128MB) reports that he doesn't have any problems concerning lag - he also boosted everything to the maximum. Although, he could be lying.
Anything I can do to improve the performance? Thanks for reading. I appreciate it.
