View Full Version : More than two weapon mods?

I have no idea why a weapon couldn't have more than two weapon mods... It makes no sense for many of them. So my question is... Can it be changed to three or four via an ini or something?

There are actually so-called 'secret weapons' that can be found in the game that come with extra mods already. This may not be completely accurate but here they are as I found in another thread;

Assassin Pistol
Found: In Curio Shop above Trier tavern
Looks Like: Ballistic Pistol
Damage: 10
Damage Type: Bullet (KB)
Range: 100 feet
Ammo: 3
Refire: .5 sec
Alt Fire: Smart Scope

Dragon Tooth Sword
Found: In JC's Sanctuary, on top of shelves in 'Hong Kong' room
Looks Like: Energy Blade
Damage: 15
Damage Type: Edged (KB)
Range: 10 feet

Hellfire Boltcaster
Found: In balcony area of the main courtyard of Greenhouse. Will need acrobatics to reach it.
Looks Like: Boltcaster
Damage: 20
Damage Type: Fire
Range: 75 feet
Ammo: 10
Refire: 1 sec
Alt Fire: Ranged, range 1000 feet. (?)

Red Greasel Hunter
Found: Lower Seattle sewer area (under a Protector's Body)
Looks Like: Ballistic Pistol
Damage: 7
Damage Type: Bullet (KB)
Range: 50 feet
Ammo: 2
Refire: .3 sec
Alt Fire: Red Flashlight, only visible to Alex D, Range 50 feet

Toxin Blade
Found: In Emerald, in the apartment next to Nassif's under a pillow
Looks Like: Combat Knife
Damage: 5
Damage Type: Edged
Damage: 3
Damage Type: Poison
Range: 8 feet

Widowmaker SMG (Holds steadier than other SMG's)
Found: In Arcology 107-8 in a tunnel cubbyhole near the nanoformer behind arcing electricity (only after Antartica)
Looks Like: SMG
Damage: 3/bullet
Damage Type: Bullet (KB)
Range: 50 feet
Ammo: 1
Refire: Rapidfire
Alt Fire: Spiderbot, Ammo 30

The Assassin Pistol and Widowmaker SMG each already have two mods built in, so you can add two more. Very nice weapons, each of them. Just wish you could get 'em earlier in the game.

Hope this helps.

What about a Pre-Silenced Sniper Rifle? It seems like I had one...because I used one & it didn't seem to make noise or attention....but later found I had one that I had to put on the Silencer Mod...but I could be wrong is some way.

I found most of those above, but didn't really use any, except the Fire Boltcaster...which you DON'T NEED SPEED BIOMODS to get to. I didn't have any of those applied yet & got to it...is a bit hard, but you start from the 1st, regular lower balcony...get out on the edge & do a regular jump over to the other side...& then from there on up over that higher balcony w/a room at end, where the fire boltcaster is at. IT'S GREAT FOR GREASELS...or people. SCOPE w/alt fire & they burst into flames very shortly. & is silent.

I dropped the PISTOL very early. Are any of those any good...at least compared w/the rifles?

I just finished the game today with the basic weapons really with just two mods each.

Granted, its more fun to have more mods per weapon, and it does make more sense, but since I managed to finish the game, in under 24 hours (net play of course!) I suppose you don't really NEED more than two mods per weapon ;)

By the way, the weapons I used the most were the Boltcaster and EnergySword!! :)

Very nice guide to special weapons. I bet with Dragon Tooths sword and lvl3 emp strike you could take out those armored templars easily huh?

"Toxin Blade

HUH? Emarald Suites OR Nassifs appartment in Medina?

And how much damage does it do compare to standard energy blade?

Sorry I wasn't more clear. The toxin blade's in the safecracker's apartment in the Emerald Suites. I'm almost positive of that.

Unfortunately the energy blades and Dragon's tooth can't be modified. I do know that the Dragon's Tooth does noticeably more damage than the energy blade (which makes no sense, since this game's supposed to take place a generation after the invention of the DT). I really think one of the secret weapons should have been a Mark II of the Dragon's Tooth Sword.

Wasn't too impressed with the toxin blade. Tried it out and frankly I'd rather knock people out with the nightstick. Instant nighty-night.

It would have been nice if they'd gotten off their behinds and given us unique weapon models for the unique weapons.

Last I checked, a scope was a visible thing (assassin pistol), and the dragon's tooth sword was blue.

Ok TY flatfoot. I think i saw it once and mistook it for a common dagger (useless weapon). And yes, I use almost only nightstick and boltcaster.

I kept two pistols actually, the Assassin Pistol, modified with silencer and Ammo Scavenger mod, and a regular pistol with silencer and Glass Distabilizer. Both proved to take less ammo but did their job fine, although, the Assassin Pistol with silencer and Ammo Scavenger isn't a match for the Sniper Rifle with silencer and Ammo Scavenger >:) Sniper Rifle kills faster ;)

lol i know templars blow....
but with one strike i get them at almost dead... after that i can breathe on them to kill them!

I still can't find toxin blade. I searched the thief at emerals suites's apartment to pieces, and no toxin blade :(

Yes (at least with arm strength 3).

The only problem is that Templar blows up and kills you.

I have no idea why they did that. My favorite form of combat in Deus Ex I was to take out the commando types with one or two blows from the Dragon's Tooth.

The sword is very effective against everything except the Templars.

That's not entirely true, read this if you wish to know more:
The biggest and toughest concentration of PowerArmored Templar appears in the Cairo Mission, Arcology Bay 24, where you're supposed to save/kill Paul Denton. Before you set out to either kill or save Paul, sneak BEHIND as many of the PowerArmored Templars as you can and whack the triangular mark that appears at the top back of their armor. The Templar's hitpoints will decrease to almost half, but they will not be hostile to you... Its as if they never saw you hit them there at all!

Hope this helps :)
